DTS CDs/Pops/Clicks
DTS CDs/Pops/Clicks
Hi All,
I have a Pink Floyd DTS CD which plays perfectly on my Yamaha receiver at home - but in my TL the first couple of tracks have periodic pops and clicks. Once it gets past the first couple of tracks the rest of the DTS CD plays fine - and the effect is very impressive.
Does anyone know why the DTS Decoder on the TL does this? I guess it is a flaw in the Decoder software? Is there any known fix for this issue - firmware upgade? Do the Acura dealers or Honda even acknowledge this as a problem?
BTW, I have the Eagle Hotel California DTS CD - and it plays perfectly and sounds just awsome both on the home yamaha reciever and in the car.
Thanks,
Kevin

I've heard that all the TLs do the popping and clicking on DTS playback. Some material is close to being unusable. The last thing you want is to have the volume cranked and then a click takes out your speakers or eardrums. I think it is related to the decoding the ELS performs since the 5.1 is encoded inside the stereo .WAV file and has to be decoded in real time. This is why I think converting to DVDA will get rid of the pops.
I suggest contacting these guys and see if we can get a fix. Best to have as many people contact them to apply a bit of pressure or nothing will happen. At least an answer back from them would be nice.

Dvd-a No Pops
I have converted many DVD-Video discs (rip the 5.1 sound) over to DVD-A with NO pops at all using Wavelab. I have experienced these annoying pops with the DTS playing (burning my own).

Could you please outline your processes for the decoding of the DVD-V disk to end up with either the 6 .wavs or the simple multichannel .wav file. Is there an intermediate step that has the DTS wav files on the HD ?
By the way for newbies the player to use for playing DTS wavs on the PC is called VLC. It is available from:
