Droid Phone Docks???

Who here has a car dock for their droid that is not the verizon one. Those are way to big. Any ideas for custom work? This is my DD so I need my cup holders, so I can't mold them out to fit the droid like some have done for their Iphones (which is awesome btw).

1 Problem!!!!! I keep my droid in a plastic case so I need to find something or come up with something that will allow me to keep that on and not have to take it off every time. I dont mind molding something just can't do it in my cup holders.

which droid do you have exactly? Are you wanting just a dock to charge it or one that can output audio and video and charge it?

I have the moto droid and bought the verizon car dock... had to take off the back of my plastic case to lock it onto the dock. I dont have navi, so i started to stick the dock where the compass is and its been working great. Its not to much of a hassle to slip off the back cover.

Could you use just a power cord without a dock? I do not have a Droid and so have no idea if this is feasible, but with the Motorola phone I have, I bought a car charger that sits in the lower compartment of the center armrest. The wire runs up through the hole in the back of the upper compartment. I normally just stick my phone in that compartment without connecting the cable, but if I need to charge it I simply connect the power cord to the phone and plug it into the lighter plug in the lower compartment. (OK, I guess it's not really a lighter plug these days, but that's how I think of it.) The cord just stays there, not plugged in, when it's not in use.

I bought the Innotraveler car dock from Seidio. It is made to work with their cases or without. The only issue I have had is the plastic insert that is used if you don't have a case is made of a thinner plastic than the dock itself so the sun warped it a little.

If your just looking to charge your phone I would definitely recommend it. However if you are looking to hook it up to your carpc via USB as I did. It is not wired properly to do so and will cause issues with your computers internal USB hub.

I ended up rewiring mine and adding an extra USB port so that I could easily connect other devices.
