downloading DVD-A

Does anyone know if there is a way to download DVD-A music other than classical and jazz? Or if there is a way to convert mp3 type files into 5.1 surround format to play through the stock system?

Welcome to the board. I see this is your first post so I'll help you out on a few things to keep in mind. Search first, if no results then search again. Still search more then of nothing ask your questions.

Download DVD-A, Unlikely unless it is specifically not copy protected. It's not a simple thing to rip an MLP DVD-A (like commercial ones). DVD-A isn't that popular so it's not been worth while to develop cracks for it.

Mp3 to DVDA is possible. There is my program (free) as well as a better one called Cirlinca DVD Audio Solo. Its around $40 USD and well, well worth it. If you get Solo then you can use my other scripts called the Adobinizer to convert stereo wave files to 6 channel files you can put on DVD-A

Read the first 3 threads in my signature block for more info. Then search up and read some more. This is one of the most written about item in this section.

Yeah I hoave follwoed many of the various "How To's" on copyinmg copy-protected DVD-As via WinDVD hack, but they still blank out after 10 seconds. Shame, DVD-A people woudl have way more sales if I could copy my discs and bring copies in the car, I rarely leave originals int he car, also I do like carving up music and making my own play list. I guess DVD-A will stay at home on my Home Theater, its a shame becasue there a some really good DVD-A discs on the market that really show off the ELS in the TL.

Getting true DVD-A copies is next to impossoble, but what I have been doing is since many DVD-A also have a PCM, Dobly or DTS track is well is I extract that with DVD Audio Extractor. You can then at least get a higher quality audio and then burn migrate it to DVD-A using either Discwelder Bronze or Cirlinca's DVD Audio Solo. If you want the multi-channel you can extract to individual wave files and then I know in Discwelder you can use those wavs to recreate multi-channel DVD-A. Not the same as a true DVD-A copy, but better than CD for sure. What really blows is I have found no way to copy DTS CDs. Also I am finding not all DVD-A or DTS CD's are really exploiting the true higher fidelity. I see many at 24bits and 48khz, while better than CD, that is pretty much the same as standard DTS or Dobly Digital. Newer DTS[96] or DVD-A can do 24-bits at 96khz.

The Blue Man Group Complex DVD-A has DVD-A and DTS 24bit 96khz and 2 channel 24bit 48khz options
