yes you can download the whole phone book from your phone. its done when you connect new phone to the Bluetooth, or can be done through info menu under phone book.

are you referring to transfering your phonebook to navigation system? if so then yes you can transfer everything at once. Look up your Owner's Manual.

Do any of you know when you click "store in HandsFree" (I think that's what it says) what does that do? I've done it to a few numbers and still couldn't figure out what it does. I checked my HandsFree phonebook and have no new entries so I'm just curious on how that works.

Whistler, you can download your entire iPhone phonebook via the center console. Press the "Info" button and then press the cellular phone button and then hit the "Import" button. Your iPhone must be already linked to the car's HFL.

It depends on what year the OP's TL is. The 2004, at least, does NOT allow these things; I believe the 2005 does not either, although I'm not sure about that.

I had a question about this feature....

On an incoming call when the phone is connected to HFL and the phone book has been downloaded, should the display or MID show the number AND name of the person, or just the number?

If so I'm not really sure as to the usefulness of being able to d/l the phone book into my car... Am i missing something (usually am) ?

I don't know. My TL is a 2004, hence why my reply was limited in scope.

Mines only shows the number. Its weird cause the Navi and the HFL don't work together. You would think my phonebook is stored and it should show the name on the display. I only use my phonebook in the navi when i want to call someone without using my phone. Usually that doesn't happen much since i like doing things quicker then searching through menus for a number.

Just checking: this is for navi equipped TL's and not non-navi, right?
Thanks!

The reason the Navi and the HFL are separate is because all 3G TLs have the HFL, but not all 3G TLs have the Navi. By separating the two the cost is significantly reduced compared to having to build two separate HFL systems, one that's tied to the Navi and one that isn't.

The Navi and the HFL DO work together in some respects. If you program a personal address and add the person's phone number, you can bring up his listing on the screen and then press or say "Send" to send the number to the HFL to place a call. Same goes for businesses listed in the Navi database.

My HFL never shows a name regardless of whether the caller ID info transmits one. Sometimes it shows a number, sometimes it doesn't, and it's not clear to me how it determines when it will.
