Does XM really need our help?

I got this email today from XM:

XM Subscriber,

XM needs your help now. Satellite radio is under attack. The National
Association of Broadcasters (NAB), the group that represents the large
radio and television owners, is using its lobbyists, campaign
contributions and political influence to stifle competition and stop XM from
offering traffic and weather information and other valuable services to
listeners like you. NAB is trying to limit XM’s first amendment rights!

XM needs you to contact the FCC and your Members of Congress to tell
them that you support satellite radio. Visit
http://grassroots.xmradio.com to learn more about the threat, and how
you can respond by easily contacting the FCC and your lawmakers in
Washington, DC.

Exercise your freedom of expression. Let your voice be heard, loud and
clear, just like XM!

- XM Satellite Radio

Is this something that TL XM subscribers should be concerned about?

"Let your voice be heard, loud and clear, just like XM!" Hmmm in my TL XM is neither loud nor clear" It is amazing how the signal gets blocked by large rock formations on the PA TPK. Geosynch satellites have a sh**ty footprint and ground repeaters make it glorified FM.

Waiting on soundgate to rescue me.....

There is no free lunch!

It's not like XM is a charitable non-profit. Who are they kidding! :lol1:
If they want me to write a letter, they need to pay me like a lobbyist! :smokin:
How about a year's subscription free of charge!

The PA turnpike, yuck yuck yuck, You need to pay attention on our fine turnpike system and not listen to xm radio. Don't you find it amazing it takes like 8 hours to get from Pittsburgh to Philly and its only around 250 miles of shit shitty the shittiest roads.

Not to mention super-low speed limits (55 still in a lot of places), coupled with Draconian revenue collection- oops, I mean speed enforcement laws. I remember seeing a speedtrap there near Lancaster where there was an orange-colored construction truck parked on the shoulder, with a guy standing outside the vehicle with his arm inside. As I drove by, he pulled his arm out an lo and behold, was holding a radar detector.

Sorry for the Tangent. I think the big media conglomerates (Clearchannel, etc) want you to be force-fed the same 30 songs (choose your genre) 10 times a day, and now that satellite radio is an option, they realize that people will be flocking to it in droves once they try it out.

It's the same battle waged against sattellite TV when it first came out. All the cable companies and broadcasters suddenly had competition - we can't have that, now can we?

I heard one of those ads against satellite radio just the other day on one of my favorite FM stations and they kept on pounding the fact that there is profanity on XM and Sirius and what sane parent would want their child to be corrupted by junk like that. It was so obvious that the propaganda was revenue driven that I just shook my head in shame. And now that I've enjoyed XM for 2 weeks, I know why they are shaking in their boots. FM is tuned in as often as I listen to my cassette tapes .
