Disconnecting battery

If I were to disconnect the battery, will I lose all my Navigation settings. For example, will I lose all the addresses in 'Previous Destinations'?
Thanks

Make sure you have the radio and nav security lock codes before disconneting the battery.
The radio locks down as soon as it loses power, the nav gives it more time, then locks down.
Both units retain all memory settings- they just lock access until you give the proper 4 or 5 digit code to it- then back in biz! Its an anti theft feature.
You can store the codes for free on your acura account here- needs cars VIN to register

Get one of those 9 volt thingys and plug it into the 12 volt power port. That should trick everything into thinking the battery's still connected (think you have to have the key on though).

KNOW the codes- have them written down in the car or somewhere accessable to you

Good to know. Curious though; I'm pretty sure that's what the Acura techs do when they disconnect the battery (I think Honda actually supplies the tool). Any Honda techs out there that can shed some light?

I disconnected my battery the other day. I actually found my radio and Navi codes in my maintenance journal. They are real easy to put back in. Radio and Navi come right back on.

The tech doesnt care about your radio getting reset

Its up to you the KNOW the codes, find them and record them safely somewhere

I disagree; this stikes me as the attitude of a Chevy dealer maybe, but not an Acura dealer.

Unless you have gotten your car back from the dealer without functioning radio and had to dig thru paperwork to find your codes....
You have no standing in this discussion

My car has come out of the service bay twice with the radio inop-locked

Its not the techs job to find where you stored the codes and enter them for you~
Time is money- nuff said

I dont care where the tech works- and if you think it matters- you are not in the biz as I was for many many years
