Dialing from your phone while connecting to BT

i noticed while the phone is connected to the BT in our car if i try to dial a number from my phone the call will only be active in the phone not BT, i know i have to press the BT button and say "transfer" to transfer the call to BT, funny thing is it doesn't work while it's dialing, it only works after the person picks up the call. it somehow annoys me!! Is there anyway to bypass the "press the transfer button" if i dial from my phone? i dial most of the time from my phone and i want it to automatically go to the BT after i press "dial" on my phone...any solutions???

Once you connect with the person you're dialing, you must press the HFL button and say "Transfer". Then the call will go to the HFL.

I feel you... this pisses me off too. Do you have an iPhone? I think its the way the Bluetooth module works with the iPhone's bluetooth profile. I can take my same iPhone and in my GS its not like that at all. When i dial from the phone it immediately patches the entire process through the HFL including the ringing before the person on the other end picks up.

i have a htc mt4g, but i think thats the way it was back in 04~07 when BT was first introduced into cars...
i m just wondering can the ppl on the other end hear us say "transfer" when we press the HFL button and say "transfer", that will be kinda weird, i think it will be really cool if we can dial the number from our nav screen....dunno if that's hackable!!

Wonder how it is for the 07-08 guys and if their HFL module would fit in our vehicles. It basically is just a firmware thing. If they could update it somehow.. thats all it needs.

Not sure. They need to chime in. I know they have added features to their tech package.

Its the same with my 07 type s, the person on the other end needs to pick up the phone first then transfer the call via bt on steering wheel or thru the iphone. Yeah its annoying as hell!!!

Same thing with my 08 Type S on the iPhone 4S but that's why I usually end up using the phone book that's imported in the car. If I make the call thru the car's phone book it will be directly on the HFL as soon as it starts ringing.

Happens on mine too ('08 -S, on both my Google/Samsung Nexus S and HTC Evo - and I assume any other Android device).

Usually what I do is toggle the bluetooth on the phone. My dialer is gray when not connected, green when locally connected, and blue when connected to bluetooth. (Note: when I refer to connecting, I'm referring to the phone ringing/going to vm/etc., not necessarily the person picking up the phone.)

When I start dialing, it actually starts out blue for a brief moment after the call connects (and starts ringing, etc)., then turns to green. Hitting the bluetooth button on my phone reconnects it to the HFL (turning the background blue again).

Wish we could just make it work like every other car... I'm pretty sure it was programmed that way on purpose with the idea that if you're dialing from your phone and not your car, you'd want to talk into your phone also. Meh.
