Dead radio - '04 TL

My wife took my car the other day and the next morning I noticed I had no radio. Checked the fuse and it's blown, tried to replace it and it pops as soon as it is in. I took it to the car audio place down the road and they said I need to replace the stock HU but I struggle to spend $200 and I don't know that's the problem.

Thoughts or suggestions what to check before tearing out the whole dash and replacing the radio?

Other info, blue tooth quit working a couple years ago and freezes and locks me out of the radio until I turn the car off but I just didn't use it. No navi system, wife says nothing strange happened that day.

Sounds like you need a new radio, go get a second opinion, and head to a junk yard to pick up a new radio if thats the problem.

How do I know (or how do I test) that the short is in the radio and not elsewhere in the system? Could there be a a problem with the amplifier, or elsewhere?

I'm in Dallas, for $50 I'd be willing to give that a shot.
