Cabin Temp and Clock Display Issues
Cabin Temp and Clock Display Issues
I have an '04 TL.
A few months ago while driving the display above the Hazard Button started to flicker on and off when I would hit a bump. Eventually it was off more than on. I took it to the dealer and they said it was a loose wiring harness. A few days after it started up again. When I brought it back to the dealership this time they told me that there was nothing they could do and it would cost $400 to replace the entire display. Right now that it has gotten to the point that it is never on unless I tap on the top of the dashboard.
Please tell me that they are just trying to hose me and that is not what it is going to cost to fix this issue?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just curious, what did you eventually end up doing? I've experienced a problem similar to where mine dims and than returns to normal brightness. When i called the dealer they said i may need to replace the entire center unit. Does your car have navi?
That display is very easy to remove. If you have fingernails you can remove it with no tools. If not, you can use something dull like a butter knife to pry it out. I would take it out and with the lights on, wiggle the connector and see if it's something easy. It's worth a try.
