Dead Pixel

I just leased brand new TL with navi and I absolutely love it! I had a 2000 Bonneville SSEI 240hp, and it was a good car too. Fully loaded fast, I miss it a little.

Anyway, using the navi diagnistic screen I found I have one dead pixel (always black) what should I do? I don't really want the dealer to tear my car apart to replace the stupid screen. I only have 300 km on the thing! I could live with it for now, and have it replaced later, when I scratch the screen or more of them show up. Or maybe they should give me a differnet car? What do you think I should do?

Thanks.

I don't know about Acura but when it comes to laptops or LCD computer monitors, the manuf usually won't exchange for dead pixels until it reaches a certain number (usually 3-5 pixels.) The typical response is that there are certain tolerances expected during manufacturing and a few dead ones are within those parameters.

Good luck.

Definitely not a new car, I know with my thinkpad laptop, if you have one dead pixel they will not replace the screen.

I'd still report it to the dealer so that it is in your records (since it is brand-new), and find out what their policy is.

After doing quick search here, you may be only the second person to complain about a pixel failure on the Navi. While that doesn't help you very much, it does mean that Acura has a pretty low failure rate on these things ...
