daylight savings problem
woke up this morning to find that my TL's clock is an hour behind. is there a fix for this? can it be manually adjusted or do we just wait for acura to change it via satellite?

it can manually be changed in the settings part of the nav. You can fix this by getting new new nav disk which has the fixed parameters.

There is a thread here on the DST issue, but I thought it was a Navi software issue, so that the new nav disk could not fix the problem.
The DST settings for the TL were configured before Congress moved the DST change dates.
Easiest way to address it: go into "Settings" (top of switch to the left of the Navi joystick) and change the clock setting to manual mode.

Yes, it's not a glitch. However, the disc they're formulating for DST will also fix a lot of unrelated glitches in the software

It is shameful that other lesser automotive brands have been updated for the new DST rules that took effect in spring of 2006. Acura, more than a year later still has no fix available to the customer.
Can we manually set the time? Yes
Should we have to manually set the time? No. The change in the DST rules was known well in advance. Acura should provide the fix free to the customers.

The first change in DST occurred this past March 07, not in 06. Still, they had the lead time to come up with a fix and have yet to do so. If it's do-able via the navi disk it should be an easy fix and hopefully it'll be free. If not, at least a reasonable price (i.e. like $50).

Ops, good catch about the DST rule starting in spring 2007. I was thinking it was over a year since the change was announced. After researching the time change, it was August 2005 when the DST rule change was announced.

From what I understand, it is a 2 year trial period on the change, if whatever they are studying does not work, they will be going back to the normal.. Maybe Acura didn't want to change, then have to change back... I think it was some sort of energy consumption study..

Whether it's two years or not, if the clock can be adjusted via the navi disk, then it shouldn't be hard at all to make an update. Then, if it needs to be adjusted back, adjust it again. Just have to make it affordable.
Note to Honda/Alpine: You'll sell more than 3x as many navi disks at $75 (or lower) then you will at $200. The profit will be much less per unit, but in the long run you'll make more money than you would at 200/per.

<sigh> I guess we're going to have these threads every DST time change.
Beginning in 2007, most of the United States begins Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and reverts to standard time on the first Sunday in November. In the U.S., each time zone switches at a different time.

In 2007, DST ends at 2:00 a.m. (local time) on November 4, 2007.
Therefore the fix is merely an update to the Navi software (disk) for the new dates. It is not hard to change the code for the new dates.
Congress retains the right to resume the 2005 Daylight Saving Time schedule once the Department of Energy study is complete.
However, I would expect this to be a few years in order to determine the trend analysis.
In general, the updates for Navi disks should be $30 vs $200 which more on par with software updates for GPS.

To change the DLS go to clock setting then if you have navi make shure the button that syncs with the satalites is on and DLS bun is on. Hit reset and it will automaticly change in tune with the satalites...simple

"No Acura Daylight Savings Time Fix is Planned"
I have a 05 and have asked Acura numerous times about a "Daylight Savings Time Fix" I spoke with Fred Silver, a Norcal Acura regional sales manager after speaking to 3 levels. Finally, Mr. Silver stated that "No Acura Daylight Savings Time Fix is Planned" and you have to live with manually updating it. Acura treats the customer second class!
