Custom double din help
Custom double din help
I have an 04 tl that already has a sub and amp in the trunk hooked up with a loc. My stock head unit got all f***ed up and it freezes up and the bluetooth just dies randomly and no longer holds numbers.
I want to swap out the stock unit with a kenwood double din ... I know that its a bitch but it should provide everything i need for cheaper than getting another stock unit.
A friend of mine can fabricate me a mounting kit for free so that's not a problem .... my question is .... after the kenwood is installed I should connect a line level output of the kenwood to the stock amp in the passenger side kicker correct?

does your stuck HU get stuck only with bluetooth or all sources like AM/FM, 6 disk, XM or AUX?
If it's just on bluetooth, get a new bluetooth module and your done. If it's the head unit, you can find one on ebay for around 200-400 dollars.
Putting in an aftermarket unit is going to be some serious $$$, 300 or so just for the custom mount, then the unit itself and all the labor to put that in.

The rest of the head unit works fine. I think the internal memory of the BT module is dead so I would have to replace it.
I can get a custom mount made for free. And I do all labor myself. My question is more about the steps involved in getting the double din hooked into the existing system in the car
