Creating a backup nav disc

I have an '05 TL with nav, which I purchased about a month ago. The dealer misplaced the nav disc, so they ordered a new one from Alpine (version 3.5 I believe). I would like to create a backup of this disc, in case the disc is somehow damaged/lost. I attempted to do this using DVDFab/DVD2one. I used a double layer DVD-R disc, as well as a double layer DVD-R, yet when I attempted to use the disc, my car gave me an "unable to read disc" or something similar error. Is there a step I'm missing? I remember reading something here about people creating backups (I tried searching, with no luck, if a thread addressing this has already been made a link would be greatly appreciated). Thanks in advance for any help.

there is no reason for it to get damaged or misplaced (unless dealer took it out while car sat on the lot or they used in for another car)
Buy the release version you need and leave it in the player
It wont work in another acura unless same color/version so no damage from moving around

Its copyright protected against copies
