Couple Of Carputer Questions
Couple Of Carputer Questions
Hey all. I just bought a carputer and lilliput touch screen monitor used and it should be here in a few days. I had a couple of questions or need opinions from some of you that have put one in.
I have a 2008 TL with navi. The Lilliput is actually going to be used for rear seat viewing by my 4 year old. The carputer will be run to the Lilliput and also to Dom's unit and then on to the stock navi screen. I plan on getting a glide point device of some sort to be able to run the system from the front while viewing the navi screen. My main plan for the carputer is mass storage of movies and music. The audio will be run to the mini aux. jack in the center console.
I want to hopefully make the front end as easy as possible to use. I have seen several of your installs and the front ends look fantastic but, probably more than I need. What should I look at to basically have a couple of buttons labeled movies and music, push either button, which would take you to a list of available movies and/or music, touch whatever selection you want and then that would start playing. I hope that makes sense. I will be adding other things later but this will be my first goals with the carputer. I want my 4 year old to be able to tap the Lilliput and select a movie that he wants to watch and have it start playing.
Any and all opinions welcome.

So you are going to put the lulliput screen in the back right? If yes, your best bet would be to run the video to both screens and have a mouse/keyboard for the front screen so you can control it and the touch screen in the back. The video quality will not be that good in the front, so be prepared to pull over so you can decipher the text on the screen as the legible resolution on the navi screen is 600X 480 vs the lilliputs at 800x600
