Complete aftermarket system

New to this forum. Been a honda guy since high school. Have had a 05 TL for about 4 months. Worked at Best Buy for a number of years installing car electronics and have decided to redo the whole system. I installed a pioneer double din unit a few months back and tapped into the factory bose amp remote wire. Still sounds good but hear buzzing and clicking when music is not playing. I currently have unplugged the factory sub and have aftermarket sub/amp in the car. Since I value my trunk space I have been debating about getting a sub to fit in the factory spot in the rear deck. I have aquired a 5-channel Alpine amp, Type-r components for the front and type-r 6.5" for the rear deck. I also got a 8" kicker comp vr shallow sub for the rear deck and plan on building a box to mount to the rear deck too. Hopefully I can conceal it all above the factory carpet covering the rear deck in the trunk. Since I am in school and approaching finals I will probably hold off on the install til I'm out of school. I plan on taking pictures of the work done if anyone else has been interested in doing the same to their TL. Recently found all wires and color codes to factory system so the install should be a breeze. Any questions let me know.

How did you wore your head unit? I'm installing a double din but I'm stuck on the wiring!

OP, you will rattle the crap out of your deck. Aftermarket subwoofer + rear deck = more trouble than it's worth. If you think the buzzing and clicking you currently have is annoying, wait until your hear your rear deck rattle lol. Best to have a small box in the trunk, or do an infinite baffle behind the seats. Don't get me wrong, it's possible to mount a new sub on the rear deck and have it sound good, but the money you'll spend in dynamat and sound dampening will be cost prohibitive.

Oh, and the TL does not have a Bose system. It's Panasonic.

Just a standard 98+ honda harness. Can't remember which wire I tapped into for remote wire. Don't feel like pulling my dash apart to find it. Pretty sure I googled it to find the color code. I'm not going for heavy bass so hopefully the rattling will not be a issue. As for Panasonic or Bose i'm getting rid of it. I've done this intall before with no issues, but there also was not a box involved.

Finished install last week. Had bought a 8" Kicker for the rear deck but there is no way to fit a box in the deck unless I cut out a bunch of metal. Sticking with the old 12" Infinity for now. Type-r components in the front, type r 6.5" in the back and Alpine 5 channel amp. Sounds way better than stock and install was pretty straight forward. Had to remove a lot to get everything done but well worth it.

Here is a link to the pictures of the install. https://www.flickr.com/photos/244109...7644780846562/

Everything looks completely stock minus the amp I mounted to the rear deck. No more buzzing due to the factory amp.

I tapped into the factory wiring and ran a speedwire to the back where the amp is located. Had to run seperate wires to the tweeters because I didn't know where they split for the factory crossover but did use the factory wire to the 6.5" door speakers. I did not want to have to run wires through the door boot.

So it's a pretty standard install. You probably could have saved some time by searching for all of the failed attempts at putting a sub in the stock location. To save space, infinite baffle is the way to go. I have a pair of 15s that take up less trunk space than a typical single 10" in a box.

The "crossover" for the tweeters is on the tweeter in the form if a cap. The junction is behind the globe box. The stock mids have a highpass built into the amp but they're run full range up top, no lowpass. It sounds like you went aftermarket anyway so that's good.
