Cingular replaced my V600

I just got off the phone with Cingular and they are replacing the V600 with a newest version of the V600. My V600, bought the first day that Cingular sold the phone, was dropping tons of calls and I experienced the open clam bluetooth problem. I reported two technical calls to Cingular and they gave me the 800 replacement number.

Here is the number to call. 800-201-6235. They had me check a number in the phone by pressing *#06#. I think it's the serial number. I guess certain serial numbers are being replaced.

Hopefully the new model will fix the dropped calls and the open clam bluetooth problems. I'll keep everyone updated. I should be getting the new V600 tomorrow afternoon.

By the way, V600's were being temporarily being replaced with the V400 or V220's. Once the new V600 was released, then Cingular would switch you back to the V600. Apparently the new V600 is approved by Cingular and released since they offered new the newest V600???

You can't buy the updated V600, it is only a replacement for existing V600's with the problem. The T-Mobile V600 is not the same as it only has 3 bands and the Cingular/ATT versions have all 4.

V600

I got mine “new” V600 last week. I had my original for about 3 months and was never able to get the phone to answer with the clam closed. I was also dropping calls, but didn’t know if it was due to the phone / hardware or the Cingular network. I had Verizon for many years and was spoiled by their coverage. Changed to Cingular due to Bluetooth issue. When I received my new phone, I checked the flex; it was the same as the one I sent in!! Paired the phone, still would not answer with the clam closed. Called Acura, they said Moto had provided a fix to Cingular and Cingular was “testing” it and Acura did not know when it would be released to the general public. Called Cingular, spent about an hour with several clueless reps that didn’t know anything about the problem or fix. I decided I had enough of this BS and I went back to the Verizon store and bought a V710. So far, works great, I finally have a phone that I can leave on my belt and can answer in the car!! Kinda sucks that the signal strength does not show up, but given the choice, I will take a phone that answers with the clam closed that does not drop calls over a signal strength display on the HFL. From what I can tell, Moto is supposed to have a fix for this problem by November. Anyway, who cares about the signal strength meter if you have good coverage? The only benefit of having this with Cingular was letting me know when I dropped a call or had no service, which was way too much of the time!!

My ATT GSM Quad Band V600 works absolutely perfect with the TL, clamshell closed, excellent reception.

I called Cingular a few days ago, and they too are sending me another one. Supposedly this new one has a far better screen and get far better reception. I can say though, that the v600 I have right now seems to get better reception than my T637 already...

Hfl

I have to admit that I don't use the HFL as much as I use to. I found myself losing my voice after a few call because I would talk much louder than when using a cell phone the "old" way. I still link up to see the caller ID and to check voicemail. Besides that, I almost always answer and make calls using the phone.

Just my 2 cents...

V600 and Bluetooth

I also called Cingular and got my 'new' V600 that was supposed to remedy the issue with receiving calls with the clamshell closed. My previous phone did everything perfectly except answer calls. However, after linking the phone, I found that I have the same problem as before. Any suggestions on phone settings? I've pretty much given up on this one....

Thanks for the info! I just called the Cingular 1-800 repair number and they checked the model # of my phone and are now sending me a replacement phone. I was ready to get a new phone entirely because I was having alot of trouble with my old V600.

Very timely message! I appreciate the posting
