cd player not working

today i was listening to a cd in my 04 tl w/ navi and all of a sudden it stopped playing and audio unit turned off and wouldnt come back on. I had to restart my car to get the audio to come back on, the radio/xm/tape player work fine but as soon as i hit the cd button the power turns off wont come back on. has anybody heard of this? any info will help. thanx

I remember mine use to over heat or something. I haven't had that issue in a while but I don't use the CD player as much anymore considering mp3 players now. I would say cut the AC on and try to keep the center column cool.
My bluetooth freezes up every now and then too but considering its an 04 - can't really complain. GL

this same exact problem happened to me the other day. it's now actually saying the songs are on but nothing is playing, yet i go to the radio and it plays fine, but like you said - as soon as i try to go back to the cd, everything just turns off. fucking annoying

Anyone know what a repair or replacement would cost?
Where to go for repair or replacement unit?
Thanks.

Dealer wanted to charge ~$500 for me. Thats not even replacing with a new unit. They were going to take off my HU, ship it out to repair, fix it, then install it back..
