Cassette Adapters - Who still uses them?
For a while I was wanting an aux input option for my TL. I mainly listen to XM Radio but when I was on a trip once in a while, I wanted to listen to just a few songs through my Blackberry phone. I looked at all the aftermarket kits and couldn't justify spending over $100 for something I wouldn't frequently use. Some users on here had some problems with them too.
So I decided to try an cassette adapter that cost me $13.98 brand new on eBay. I stayed away from cheap Walmart ones and bought a Sony one because they have good history with manufacturing them with their old-school anti-shock CD players. Found this website that ranked Sony one the best as well:

For how cheap it is I am totally satisfied. It sounds at least as good as XM Radio and I haven't had any issues yet.

I've used them before I got my processor but can't get over the bad sound quality. I think you're right though, they don't sound any worse than XM. For occasional use, they serve their purpose but if you used it on a daily basis it might get annoying.

I use to use a cassette adapter on my
04 TL but wasn't too happy with the
sound quality. I recently purchased
a Motorola T505 hands-free device - it
great for the IPhones or blackberry phones
to play your music through - no
interference or static noise - sounds
Great!! Check out the reviews online
I bought mine on Newegg.com for
$42.99 and free shipping. These were
$150 two years ago!

I still have one in the car but I stopped using it a long time ago. Couldn't get over the SQ and the engine whine at high volume.
I listen to XM all the time and the cassette adapter doesn't sound as good.

Keep Right Except to Pass
I've never used a cassette adapter because I was told years ago that they cause premature wear to the cassette player. I occasionally use my tape player to play tapes that I've never copied to CD or DVD-A, usually because doing so would be too much of a nuisance (in the case of a C-90 or C-100 mixed tape, copying the tape to multiple CDs, ripping those to the PC, then burning that all to DVD-Audio is a pain in the arse when you can just play the tape). So I don't much care to wear the thing out.

I've never used the cassette deck. I'll have to dig through 34 years of work on the radio and see if I've still got any cassettes left...

I actually just bought an 05 TL last month and was really disappointed by the fact that it did not have an AUX input or anything. My wife's 04 Nissan Armada had one, but not the Acura. I bought an adapter from Walmart the other day, much to my dismay. I hate having cords show, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality.

I... still use mine. I cant find a good solution where I can also keep my XM. More searching...

Got The Midas Touch
I used mine occasionally to play pandora and ipod, until last week when my daughter decided it was a good idea to stick a penny in the tape deck and I can't get it out. But its giving me the incentive to upgrade to a better way to connect my phone and ipod to the car now.

What adaptor did you buy? I still use the cassette - quality is good as long as the input volume is not too high - make sure your ipod, phone, etc is at about half - any higher and the cassette cannot transmit the audio without distorting.

I keep saying I'm gonna purchase an actual ipod integrated adapter, but I get annoyed that my 06 TL didn't come with AUX input so I stay loyal to my cassette adapter.
