Carputer

So I figured since Im going to have the car for three years a navi and carputer would be a nice touch. I was just wondering what components I would need to put it all together. Any specific specs on the computer or can I just slap on a decent amd with like 256 ram? Any and all comments/suggestions are appreciated

i would search.. there are plenty of members on here with totally different setups that you could use... there are a million of possibilities you could use to have a good setup... all depends on your preference and most likely, your budget... it is not a relatively cheap project... lolz i know first hand...

another good site would be mp3car.com... it is a site totally dedicated to carputers...

I currently planning mine out and doing some research. A couple things to consider.

Power - Car shut and start up controllers are made so you don't destroy the computer when you start your car or turn off the ignition.

Heat - Find a good location with good airflow so it doesn't overheat and die

Touchscreen - Find a touchscreen that will fit the dash

CPU Power - You can probably get by with small mini-itx Computer with a built in CPU like the VIA epia series that integrates video, sound and network on the board. Kinda useless to put a big tower in you trunk.

Here's the link to mp3car. You'll find more info than I can provide.

Final, you have been here long enough to know how to use the search button, as well as check the 3G TL Garage. Please use those resources before posting a thread on a topic that has been widely discussed on here.
