Car audio power wire. Stinger or Lightning Audio?
Car audio power wire. Stinger or Lightning Audio?
I'm in the process of purchasing all my stereo equipment and I've come to a impass. I was considering buying this Stinger HP SWKH4 4 gauge amp wiring kit, but as I looked closely, I see it used a 150amp fuse. Another kit I was looking it, Lightning Audio SCK4, uses only a 60 amp fuse.
My question is which is better? 150 amp fuse seems like a little overkill right?? And at 150 amp, doesn't that mean it's going to draw almost twice the current from my battery than the 60amp. But will the 150 amp fuse last longer and work better than the 60? Will the 150 make the amp run cleaner w/ more power??
I just don't know much about these wiring things and would like to know before I go out and buy something that I end up not liking. What do you guys recommend?
Thanks everyone.

The fuse just limits the amount of amps the device connected to it can draw, no affect on the sound at all, so if your amplifier needs to draw more than 60amps (I doubt it) then get the larger fuse.
I would think the larger amp fuse is for multi amplifier applications requiring greater draw capacity from the battery. The 60 amp fuse should be more than enough.
