Can't get Isimple adapter to work.
Can't get Isimple adapter to work.
I am trying to install my isimple adapter in a 07 TL-S. I located the box that the isimple product connects to in the trunk. Made all the connections per the instructions. I turned the car key to the acc switch and wait the 3 minutes. After that I am supposed to press band, sat, radio, or aux until the radio displays xm, sat or sirius. This is where my install fails. No matter what I press or how long I wait I don not get XM, Sat, or Sirius to show up. I have checked all connections and believe all to be set correctly. The #2 dip switch is on. Please help.
I have an 'O5 with out the traffic so it might be different for you, but on mine what I do is press the cd button then press the XM button and within a couple seconds of pushing the XM button i twist the tune knob and that is what cycles through the different inputs and when you reach the one that you want (on mine there is "SAT", "AUX1", "AUX2", and "IPOD") you wait for a couple of seconds and it will switch to your selection. I hope it works with yours.
If that doesn't work you can try making the connections behind the dash, which is where I had to do it, cause making the connections in the trunk didn't work.

07-08 are hooked up to the trunk XM module only. 04-06 plugs into the radio only! I found that out from my personal experience. If you can't get your normal XM to come up when you go into the diffferent modes then something is wrong with the isimple.
Unplug the I simple unit and plug all the connections back into the xm module and see if you get the normal XM to work. If yes, you got the luck of the draw and got a bad i-simple unit. It's a "plug and play" module, you can only hook it up one way.
I remember there are two plugs on the I simple unit itself. Did you plug that into the right one?
The i-simple unit is worth every penny!

If you have a meter, ohm out the plug and play harness that goes to the xm module. If it checkes out, the i-simple unit is bad. Call the tech line tomorrow. They have helped me in the past with no issues.
same here, i had some issues with mine the first time and then after talkin to them on the phone, my unit was bad. i ended up going to best buy, buying a new one and returning my bad one to bestbuy and said it never worked. After plugging in the new isimple everything worked perfect.
By the way, that error message will always pop up that the unit is not compatible because its not an apple product. any non apple product will tell you that.

I find myself quite torn about trying to help you because of your flaming signature. I have bought a number of things from Travis and have found him to be fair and honest. I think that your flaming signature is a real mark of immaturity on your part.
I will nontheless give you the benifit of the doubt that your don't seem willing to give to Travis.
1) Check all of the connections at the XM receiver. The connector is quite stiff and it is easy to have the connections almost made but not have all of the pins in contact. If from the main audio screen you do not see the XM tab then your audio system is not seeing the XM reciever. Disconnect the PGHDD2 harness and reconnect the XM Receiver to the stock harness; if you now see the XM tab from the main audio screen then the problem is when you plug in the PGHDD2. Retry plugging in the PGHDD2 and insuring that the connector is seated fully. If this still does not fix the problem try step 2
2) Disconnect and reconnect your battery. This will cause a total system reset and is sometimes a cure-all.
If this still doesn't fix the problem do as was suggested above; and try and ping out the cable. There might be a short in the cable.
Good luck and try giving Travis a break; he has been a real asset to all of us here and he deserves our support.
