Can't Get Car To Switch To Ipod???

I purchased my 06 TL with nav about two weeks ago. When I got it there was an ipod adapter already installed, not really sure which one but the ipod cable is in the glove box. I plugged my ipod in and everything was cool, I could hit the mode button to listen to the radio or XM if I chose too and then would just hit the mode button and get back to my ipod. Today I put a cd in my car, a cdr which it wouldnt play so it just spit it back out. But when I hit the mode button to get back to my ipod I couldnt. It switches through all of the AM, FM, XM, and then it says CD4 which gives no sound of anykind.

What did I do and how do I fix it?

try another disk in your cd changer and see if it works. Then plug in your ipod and press the cd button again, it should switch to CDC mode. when it's there, push the the number buttons slowly on the bottom until your ipod is activated.

I just tried it and still nothing... once I put the disc in it lets me switch between cd 1,2,3,4,5,6 but I dont hear anything from my ipod.

Does the ipod play thorough a specific disc or does it just select an available one?

It sounds like you have the POS acura musiclink, if I remember correctly it comes up as disk 6.

when it says CD4 like you mentioned in your first post, plug in your ipod firmly (make sure it clicks) and press the play button on the ipod.

Ok cool... Im going back out to my car to try it again. The ipod was already playing when I was trying earlier, would that have anything to do with it?

this is why acura literally pulled the plug on it.

Taking the car to the dealer tomorrow morning to drop it off and leave it for them to figure out whats wrong with the ipod connector. When I called to scheduel the appt the lady in the service dept basically told me that the musiclink sucks and since it sucks Acura discontinued making them so if it is the problem she doesnt know "what they can do for me"

Am I out of the question to ask them to pay for a new adapter, or should I buy the adapter and have them install it for free? Which route would yeild me more success?

I did buy the car from Acura, with an adapter made by Acura and installed by Acura, so if its a POS shouldnt they eat the cost to replace it?

Just go to Autotoys.com and buy the Peripheral iSimple for the TL and be done with the Acura Link POS iPod adapter... It only costs about $140 Shipped... and it will display the songs playing on your iPod on the Navi Screen and Sub Display...

How much does your time and ultimate frustration dealing with an Acura Dealer cost to you???

Yeah... but Im just pissed that I have to. I just got the car 3 weeks ago. Im sorry but I feel like they should do something to accomodate me, I dont know what, but something...

I was supposed to get my windows tinted tomorrow morning, so now I have to decide do I put that on hold to get this Ipod situation taken care of or do I go with the tint and handle the isimple next week.

So I go to the dealer today, just to have the guy checking me in at the service department literally tell me that Im basically SOL if my music link stopped working since they discontinued it, theres nothing that they can do for me.

After getting pretty pissed and losing my temper he called his head technician to look at my car right then instead of having me come back 8 hours later when I got off work to return the loaner and get my car...I think he wanted to get the full explosion from me that he could obviously tell was coming right then and there instead of having me erupt later in the day.

The tech was really cool and he basically agreed with everyone else the music link sucks, and regardless of anything that he'd tried up to that point when he installed them, pretty much every one came back with an issue. He unplugged mine and plugged it back in, poof...Ipod!

Its working just fine now, but fuck that...I'll be buying an iSimple when I get paid next week.

You won't regret the Isimple/peripheral unit, they are pretty good. But at least it is working now.
