Built/Painted My Sub Box...

So I built this box a few weeks ago and it sounds AMAZING (3.0cu.ft. tuned to 33hz) but I felt I needed to spice it up a little. I didn't feel like doing carpet b/c everyone and every shop does it. I wanted to be different and I had an idea pop into my head......so I went with it! What do ya think?

Box Build:

Primer/Paint Started To Go On:

Finished Project:

It looks soo good in person as the silver paint I used has a slight metallic look to it and matches the SSM pretty well. Just need to paint up the front near the woofers and I'll pop it in and take more pics! I free-handed the "TL" while looking at a picture. Let me know what ya think

I like the design, it's different.

What kind of subs are those? It looks like it says W7 but obviously not. Are they W3s? The box looks huge but I was assuming they were 12s. Maybe not so much if they're 10s.

That's about right for 2 10's once you consider port and sub displacement.

If you are happy with it, then that is all that matters. Other than that Okie Lite Chair in the background, it looks good.

What did you paint it with - I tried to paint MDF once and it was a disaster.

Ouch...I'm getting blasted on this lol. Looks much better in person

I used a foam roller and black gloss paint. Latex-based I believe

Agreed. I didn't even look at the actual box displacement, just eyeballing the size of the box and assuming they were 12s which I'm so used to looking at.

OP, I really like the different look. Nothing wrong with carpeted boxes but yours looks nice.

Yeah I figured I'd try it out since I had the paint and everything. If I didn't like it then I can go get some carpet and install it over the paint. Can't decide what I want to do yet but I kinda like it in the car...although the box is a tad tall so it wont go all the way back to the seats. Leave's me hardly any trunk space.

And about the crooked look...my TL is debadged so I just google'd the TL emblem and a few were straight looking and some had a slight tilt to the bottom on the T and the L was close the same angle. I'll snap some pics in the trunk and see what you all think

Repaint the logo. You obviously spend a good amount of time on the proper research/build, don't sell yourself short and cheapen your efforts with sloppy painting.

I don't think anyone was saying the "TL" should be italicized but rather that the letters are slanted on the box. To me it looks like it is sloping down to the right.

Monkey, congrats on the sub-it looks good.

Guys, I might be wrong, but I think the "TL" in the '04's thru '06's is non-italisized. Trunk Monkey has an '04.

Yep, the 04-06 TL is non-italisized.

I'll take a few measurements but it doesn't look slanted at all in person. It might be the illusion since the top of the bottom part of the L gets smaller and might make it look slanted down slightly. Obviously, if I could get it perfect that'd be great but it's in my trunk...hardly ever open....and I don't show the car anyways lol. Just figured it be something "different" and not the same ol' same ol' carpet. Thought about putting JL on there...maybe next.

Crzy- amp is a Kicker 400.1 but I want to get something different for a little more power. If I could find something like a 600.1 or 700/750.1 that'd be good. I like to have more and keep the gains down then stress the amp.

Yeah there's a alpine m1000 for $150 near me. A few m500's for $100 but I figure that's only another 50rms/sub so kinda pointless. Never really used JL so I dunno how they handle power.

Extra headroom is always a good idea

I'm using a m500 right now for one 10w3v3 with half gain or so
