bought a cd and a dvd-a today
I purchased Ryan Adams - Gold on DVD-a. It sounds great. I also purchased the Maroon 5 - Songs about Jane. I played the dvd first, when I switched to the cd, I had to turn it down. I don't think it was the quality of the music maybe the recording setup. Either way I was pleased with the music of both........I was originally going to replace my oem system but now after a few days of playing with the settings, I am quite pleased with it.
Just a little FYI

I WISH Maroon 5 had a DVD-A. However, to clarify, I'd like to think that the original post said he bought a DVD-A AND a CD. The first one was DVD-A, and the second was an ordinary CD. PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, I'd love to hear that band on DVD-A!
Ryan Adams on dvd-a, Maroon 5 on CD. The cd rocks, the dvd-a is cool also, you can hear the moroccas in the background on the stage. You can close your eyes and picture where everyone in the studio is standing.....Pretty neat.

awwwww......My bubble has been burst, lol
Regarding volume of DVD-A versus CD:
DVD-Audio is uncompressed, whereas CD's are compressed. So think about sound of live television (or television in surround sound) versus a commercial (compressed). The volume of the commercial is much higher due to compression.
Some people who listen to a lot of DVD-A music say that the TL system isn't loud enough, but in reality it's due to the greater dynamic range and uncompressed media.
