Bluetooth phone disconnects and reconnects every minute or so

I have been using a Cingular blackberry 8700c for a couple of months now and didn't have any issues until about a month ago. Now my phone will disconnect and reconnect every minute or so. Has anyone else had this problem? I deleted the phone and re-paired it and still having the same issue.

Any ideas?

The HFL module may be faulty. Good luck getting a dealer to replace it....

Will, they just try to blame the phone? I have a Razr phone that I don't use anymore. I guess I will have to put my sim in that phone and test it out before going to the dealer.

It is so annoying to try and make a call only for it to tell me no phones are found only to have it reconnect 5 seconds later.

It's not your car. It's the phone. I just called Acura's Handsfree Line at 888-528-7876 and they have reported significant numbers of these problems with all models of blackberries recently. I have a feeling it's the 4.0 and 4.1 versions of Blackberry Software that are causing this error.

Getting it replaced

Cingular told me the same thing. Given my wife's RAZR works perfectly (30 ft plus), it can only be the BB. I'll have a new one by Friday (hopefully) and I'll see if it works any better. The current one pairs fine but does the connect/disconnect business until I power it off or take it out of range.

My 8700C is doing the same thing. You can verify its the phone by pairing it with a BT headset. It will do the same thing (disconnect/reconnect). Luckily I'm within the 30 days with Cingular and they sent a replacement (hopefully its better than this one). If you aren't within your 30 days you can probably still get it XBM'ed.

Got my new 8700c yesterday. Although I'm having some weird issues getting to http://m.gmail.com , the bluetooth paired with the TL immediately and stayed connected for at least 30 minutes without dropping. I'm convinced the other one had a bad radio.

Now to figure out why this thing hates google...

Same here, received my replacement and all is well. I've been using it for 1-2 hours at a time with no disconnects.

i've had problems with my 650. when i try and hang up after a call or when the other end disconnects my phone will reset or sometimes freeze. i just assumed that it was an issue with the phone.

I use a Rogers 8700 and was having the same problem until I found a fix !

When the phone starts acting up, disconnecting and reconnecting every thirty seconds or so, I navigate my way through the Options menu to the Bluetooth window. I select the "HandsFreeLink", then press the thumb wheel and select "Disconnect" from the menu. I wait until the unit is disconnected from HFL, give it about another 30 seconds then ensure the "HandsFreeLink" is still selected, press the thumb wheel and select "Connect" from the menu.

I've been using this method to solve the disconnect problem for few weeks now. So far it's worked every time.

Good advice, but you do realize he asked the question over a year ago, right?

LOL, I got an email that someone replied to this thread

My 8700c just ended up being bad. I replaced it and the new one worked great for months. I am now using a 8800 and haven't had a single issue at all.

Replies like this annoy me. Why is it some people don't see the value in providing an answer even if the question is a year old. I'm sure there's someone out there whose having the same problem and will benefit from my reply.

You are right about people benefitting. Sometimes I google search for stuff and even though it might be months old finding an answer is awesome.
