Bluetooth/Navi Support in Non-Navi '06 TL

A quick introduction of myself since this is one of my first posts. I currently have an 03 TL with underbody spolier package and wing spoiler on the back. I have had it since Dec 02 and have really enjoyed it. However, this was the first car that I had purchased in my life that was not a manual transmission. The salesman sold me on the sport shift technology, but found that after about a month of using it, I got bored. It just wasn't the same as a true manual transmission. Then, of course, a year later the TL became available in a manual transmission variety.

Well, I just got to the point in my current loan where I can get out of my 03 TL and into an 06 TL with MT. It took a long time to find a dealer who could actually find a MT in the color that I wanted (I really wanted the ebony leather interior which limited by exterior choices to black, silver, or anthracite). In any event, I found a dealer who gave me a good deal on my trade-in, and was able to find an 06 MT TL and I had them put the underbody spoiler package and the wing spoiler on the back. However, it is a non-navi version.

My questions are these ...

I read about someone on this site who did a non-navi to navi conversion on an 04 TL awhile back. Does anyone see this as being a remote possibility down the road on the 06 variety, or is it too early to tell? I think the only way I could have gotten a 6MT with Navi was to order it from the factory and the window of opportunity on my trade-in value wasn't large enough to allow me to wait. It would be nice to be able to add the Navi down the road and was just curious ...

The other question (since I haven't picked the car up yet) is if the non-Navi 06 TL supports the Bluetooth HandsFreeLink functionality given you have a compatible phone. I thought I remembered reading that you needed the Navi system for this functionality, but since Acura changed their website I have been unable to find this information anymore. If it isn't supported, are there any aftermarket packages that would provide the same functionality of playing phone calls through the audio system?

Thanks,
Dave

I did the conversion. I was told 06 was the same. If you cant afford to wait, I would say pull the trigger and add it later. I paid about $2000 for the conversion. About the same as you would pay at the dealership. As far as bluetooth, it works the same on non navi model. Here is the link to my thread on the conversion thread .

Thanks ... I actually read your entire post about the navi conversion on your car and it was pretty impressive. I may look forward to doing that down the road, because I already have actually pulled the trigger on the 06. I'm due to pick it up on Dec 12th (not that I'm counting the days or anything). It's good to hear the HFL works in the non-navi version also. Thanks for the info ...
