link please? seems like a huge variety of prices depending on year and whether or not you have nav. Please link it, at 135 I'd order a new one without issue.
Here's the one I ordered. http://www.oemacuraparts.com/acura/t...p-a02za-acura/ for my '05 tl non-navi grey interior.
Double check your own needs, but it seems that all the non-navi's are the same part and all the Navi's are the same part. and for some weird reason the White plastic is $20 more than the grey and tan plastic.

I am not sure man...if you're right that's a great item. I'd be a bit worried about it being the right item though to be honest. The module that is failing that they are claiming costs 800 bucks would not be interior color specific. Please let us know if this is the module and if it solves the problem for you!
I hope so!

Wow...mouser ships fast. Got mine, I ordered 2 just in case (the ones mentioned earlier in the thread). I soldered in the first one and ended up snapping one of the leads...kept going back and forth to the car and plugging it in. It blipped on once so I knew it would work. I ended up resoldering my 2nd and last one about 3 different times trying to get the tabs to line up perfectly with the board's lines...finally got it. I carefully peeled off the rubber buffer thingy (that separates the 2nd board) and put it on the new cap. Honestly, the dealership probably won't even be able to tell I did this repair.
So far, it turned on immediately...and stayed on, was able to make a call. I'll check back in a few to see if I'm troublefree.
Thanks all...if this works, I swear, this website is a godsend.

So update...driving last night, the icon on the radio dropped off again...a little knock on the upper console and BAM, came back on. I'm wondering now if it's a combination of things or just a loose connections somewhere. It was consistent too...it would turn off and I would knock hard on the overhead and it would come back on...about 5 times in a row. Any ideas?

I appreciate the response, bud...please do because my changing of the stupid capacitor did not solve my problem. If you got the whole module for 130 bucks, that's a heck of a bargain!

Yes, aarik, please don't forget about us little people! We eagerly await your findings...if it's the whole part with the BT unit I'll be ordering mine tonight!
Got the part today, installed in less than 5 mins. Had to re-pair my phone and I'm good to go! Been in and out of the car 4 times since I installed, and it came right on every time.

Dude, I may have to name my firstborn Aarik now...thank you. I owe you one, I will place my order. Fkin dealership rippin people off!
I appreciate the feedback. I will go for it, I'm assuming you were having problems with it not pairing and dropping calls. I think we have to reprogram the phonebook too. I have black interior but my overhead is gray too? Does that sound right?

You can actually buy the part direct from Acura for about $180 now, so it seems something major happened with production costs. It just seems not everyone has gotten the memo, since some places still list it in the $500 range.

aarik, again, thank you so much for sharing. We owe you owe buddy...
I swear, getting quoted $1100 out of pocket for cracked dash and bluetooth unit and ending up with an $80 sedona suede dash cover and $140 bluetooth replacement I really feel like I'm coming out on top. Yay!

Price increased
Hi, I've been an occasional guest on the board but decided to join due to this thread. The HF went out on our 05 Nav-TL recently. I was told by the dealer (this week) that the unit needed replacing and the cost would be 325.00. I just ordered the unit mentioned above from oemacura and the price is no longer the 135. They called after placing my order to say due to a price increase, it is now just over 170.00 They probably marked it up due to increase demand based on this post. LOL Anyway, it was still cheaper than what I had found elsewhere so I order it. Just thought I would let you guys know.
Thanks for the great advice everyone.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the price increase is actually due to the fact that you have NAVI!
aarik and I don't...
Could be wrong though. Thanks for the update, let's keep this thread alive, it could potentially help out a LOT of people.

Just got an email from Tim from oemacuraparts and he says the part is discontinued but there is a new part number based on my vin. Emailed him my vin...I hope the price is the same!
No, according to their website, price was same for Nav. He stated that the reason was due to a price increase "last month" that did not carry over to the website. In their "Terms of use" it is noted it says "***Due to monthly catalog changes from Acura N. America, all pricing and parts listed on the site are subject to change without notice*** "
Who knows.
Who knows.

Same here-- my HFL went down/intermittent yesterday and today-- darn, I miss having it!This morning, one local dealership had a $630+ price; the other had it at $220, but not in stock.
Thanks to aarik for saving me a bunch on the HFL...
Wait, can I take the thanks back due to the $38+ increase by Acura of Peoria?

(Also, the P/Ns above are for the "Moon Lake Gray" interior. There are two other interior color options, so make sure you order to match your interior coloring.)
So, does anyone know if it's critical to install the "Delay Box" in the Navi vehicle? Has anyone tried to install it without the kit? If noone has done this, are there any opinions?
Addendum: The Acura Service Bulletin uses the term "Replace" for the HFL unit (on both cars equipped with Navi and without), but uses the term "Install" when talking about the "HFL Dealy Box" for the Navi-equipped car. The Delay Box is installed on the back of the Navi console, i.e., you need to remove the front panel of the Navi console and attach the Delay Box inside. It's cabled inside and, I assume, the cabling eventually ends up adjacent to the moomroof switch "upstairs." Don't know if this helps...
Geez - Sorry to be so verbose here, but what I meant in the addendum is that the SB seems to imply that the Delay Box wasn't in the vehicle as originally configured. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but wouldn't Acura likely be consistent and use the term "Replace" for both items, rather than "Install" for the Delay Box? The SB illustration leads me to think that the Delay Box is an "add on", as well.
FWIW, I used this site to check part numbers and fitment. The "module" seems to be the same for both NAV and base with the exception of the 2004 year model. The page listed here was for my application. If you scroll down, it shows all models it fits.

So the increased demand all of a sudden caused a jump in price. Luckily it's still a fair price. I would rather they be honest about it though, rather than act like what I ordered is discontinued.
Does anyone know about the "Delay Box" module that Acura is configuring now with the Navi-equipped cars? Is it really required, or perhaps to address some other issue. For example, I've experienced problems pairing phones (as have others on the forum), but that issue is not the one I'm really trying to fix, i.e. the bluetooth feature no longer works at all...
BTW, here is the Acura Service Bulletin link on replacing the HFL. Got the information I shared from this SB. My bottom line: I want to save a ton of money by replacing only the HFL Unit, as opposed to replacing the HFL Unit AND installing the Delay Box if possible. The combo is sold as an $800+ (discounted) replacement set for Navi-equipped cars. Don't want to pay for the Delay Box if it's not critical to solving my problem...

Pry down the overhead compartment with a thin screwdriver up front...unplug 2 plugs. Unscrew 4 8MM bolts and take down the overhead assembly cover. Unplug Bluetooth unit. that should stop it.

Kevin, if you've found that the delay box is a separate entity and is behind the radio etc...I would venture to say that you can get away with just replacing the bluetooth unit. Our problem with losing connectivity etc is linked to the bluetooth unit, not the delay box. Don't quote me though, becasue I'm just using logic...I'm not sure if the HAVE to be new or something to work in conjunction with each other, but I highly doubt it.
I unplugged the little black box that was hidden under the 4 bolts last night but this morning my car was dead. I turned the key and all the lights just flickered and it made this loud 'TA TA TA TA' noise.
Well I'm not 100% sure how old the battery is but my BT is messin up. It doing the same things all of yours is doing. The buttons don't work, all it says is booting up and my phone isn't pairing with it anymore.
I've done a little more investigating on the "Delay Box" issue I mentioned above. There is a separate Service Bulletin that addresses it, No. 05-029, dated Sept. 3, 2005. The Delay Box addresses a battery drain issue that can occur when the Nav system continues to draw down the battery after the vehicle is shut off. The SB covers vehicle 2005 TL VINs between 19UUA6...5A000001 and 19UUA6...5A030286. I've placed a link to the URL where you can retrieve the SB below. I've also reposted the link to SB 05-020, which addresses the replacement of the HFL Module, since the previous post did not display the entire link and, therefore, did not work. Hope this helps.
As this relates to me, it confirms what Rockstar143 suggested to me, that installing/replacing the Delay Box is not necessarily critical when replacing the HFL Module. Provided I don't have a defective Delay Box, as well as the HFL Module, this will save me several hundred dollars. Thanks!
