Unhappy Blew a brand new sub!

hey guys i just got a Kicker L5 12" and it just blew, i have a JBL GTO601.1 II amp which puts out 580 at 2 ohms

i understand that u need to go easy on em for a week or so i put the bass boost at lowest possible xover was a lil high and freq was waaay to high

so i just cant figure what went wrong please help im tired of buying these f'n things

START here....if it confuses you, take it to a pro. Read the ENTIRE sight if u want to learn a little on audio, I still use it for reference. http://www.bcae1.com/gaincon2.htm

they want 65 bucks an hour just to look at it..

and you obviously don't have the knowledge to set it up right, so you have a demand for this knowledge...they have a supply of knowledge that is demanded...thus they can charge for their supply of knowledge...pretty simple really

btw, yes. Likely improperly set gains, crap for source material, not being able to hear a speaker moving beyond its mechanical limits, or a combination of all 3.
