BlackBerry Storm doesn't work with HFL....
I'm deflated to say the least...one of my favorite features of my Acura is the HFL. My new phone (Blackberry Storm) does not sync with the system . I'm I screwed, or are there "updates" the dealer can load into the HFL to allow for newer phones??

Think you are basically shit of luck man, no way to update the HFL. It's a shame to because I was really looking into upgrading to the Storm. Guess I'll be getting the Dare. :-( Please keep us updated. Are you sure you are doing it correctly?

As for the Storm user, are there and Bluetooth updates available for it. I know I had trouble syncing my Treo 700wx but one ofthe updates helped with "some" of the problems.

A little OT but SQ the Dare is very nice phone. Even though I'm a Sprint user, I have a friend who works for VZW and he lets me use some of his store demo's. I've had his Dare for the last few weeks and I've gotta say its a pretty sleek phone. I haven't tried syncing it with the HFL but I'll do so later today and let you know how it goes i u want.

BlueAC, thanks for the input about the Dare, I haven't had a chance to mess with it yet but I have read a couple posts here where it does sync correctly with the TL. So now I guess I'll just have to wait to see if the Storm gets an update soon to work with the TL later down the road. I have some time anyway before my upgrade.

FIGURED IT OUT!!! The Storm actually has two Bluetooth "pairing modes". One is called "Listen" (where it waits for a device such as a BT headset, or HFL, to find it)...the other mode is called "Search" (where the phone searches for a device to pair with). After setting up the HFL to add a new phone, you need to put the Storm in "SEARCH" mode; NOT "Listen" mode. Then it syncs just fine; AND I was also able to load my phone book into the Navi (which I wasn't able to do with my Motorola Krazer). Now I'm stoked!!

The feature I love is that it does not pair as a "headset". Instead, it pairs it as a "Hand-Free, Headset Module and OBEX Object Push" (whatever that is). The difference is that it will let you make calls through the HFL while the device is locked. This is helpful for me since I have my BlackBerry set to lock after a certain time of inactivity and I don't have to fumble to unlock it before making a call.
I have noticed that the HFL will drain the cell battery A LOT quicker than just a normal bluetooth. The cell charger in the arm rest is my best friend!

i rec'd my new storm yesterday.. and if anyone is like myself, i find it rather important that any new phone i get works with HFL, Especially since i am in California. Just to let everyone know, the Blackberry Storm is able to Pair, send calls thru to the HFL, shows the signal meter as well as the battery level. On the Storm, you are able to press the screen and it will switch between handset, speakerphone, and bluetooth. Works flawlessly. I was crossing my fingers in hopes that it would work and took a chance since 99% of the other blackberrys' work... and i lucked out. honestly.. it almost works better than the LG Env that i had before this phone. Good luck.. and i hope this answers at least a couple peoples curiosity.

BTW.. i have an 05 TL with Navi..

Kinda OT, but how do you like your Storm compared to the iPhone? Just curious. Verizon is my provider and I thought about getting the Storm, but, the areas I'm usually in Verizon doesn't have hardly any coverage. AT&T on the other hand does and I'm looking at going with them and getting the iPhone.

So why are you not longer satisfied with the iphone. I'd love one if verizon offered it. Then again I like Apple products. Long time window user who gave up on windows when all the vista garbage started to happen.

If you have encryption off and you still have problems make sure you go to Device Properties for your "HandsFreeLink TM" device in the Bluetooth devices screen on the Blackberry and set the needed options there. You want to specify HFL as a trusted device to allow it to always connect automatically.
Other than that you should be good with Blackberry devices as they use a common Bluetooth driver stack.
