Question Blackberry -Phone Book Transfer Problem-

Hey guys,

Ok I need you help, my BlackBerry 8820 (AT&T), does not want to transfer my phone book to the car, as it is not compatible (pretty stupid considering this is a business structured phone)

Can I transfer my phone book using another phone, but still use my blackberry?

I really need that phone book transfered in the car, it will make my life easier, as I don't remember the numbers that call me, and I do want to see the names in the MID without reaching for my phone every time someone calls.

Please chime in, and thank you.

Go to the Bluetooth minisite at http://www.acura.com/models/handsfre...referrer=acura and see if your phone is compatible. This issue has come up on the forums before and even those phones that do work often do not transfer the first time. Very few phones support the option. Some of the S/E phones do and the very latest Blackberrys do but many older ones do not. Good luck.

As mentioned above, I know my phone is not compatible, I was asking a different question, if I do transfer with a compatible phone, will I'll be able to use my Blackberry afterwards, in other words, does it assign the phone book exclusively to the phone that transferred it.

Ok, this is totally weird, I decided to try again to import my phonebook via the incompatible Blackberry 8820...went to Info, Cellular PhoneBook Import, and it WORKED!!! It first disconnected my phone, then connected it, and transfered my phone book...

Now my question is this, when someone calls am I suppose to only the see # that is calling on my MID? or should I also be getting the name of the person who calls? since now all #s are stored....

you must create a voice tag for each number that you want to be able to dial by name. If you go to your phonebook on your nav screen and select a person you will notice in the upper right corner a button for add to HFL, click that button and then click on the number you want to be able to dial by name. The HFL will then anounce for you to record a the name that you would like to use to call that contact. From that point just follow the prompts.

If this is not correct I appologize for I am trying to do this all from memory and I have only voice tagged about 6 of my contacts.

Well, I'm breaking my head trying to remember what I did earlier to make it work...

I've updated my Blackberry Software on my desktop, connected my phone, did a few themes installs...

Later when I was in my car, it did not detect my phone. My phone, though listed in HFL, did not link up. I've made a new profile. And now I can't import the phone book nor can I connect to my existing profile.

It starts to import, than after 5 seconds it gives an error on the Navi screen...

Frustrating! Suggestions? I need my address book!
