Blackberry 7100g...

I'm upgrading from my Motorola V557 to the Blackberry 7100g; the Acura mini-site says that the phone is compatible, etc. I was just wondering if anyone currently (or in the past) uses this phone paired to the TL and how it has been working.

My Motorola connects to the HFL immediately when I turn the car on; I have it set up that way so I don't have to hassle with it all of the time. And of course I can't use the handset of the phone unless I am 30 ft away from the car and the car has been turned off for a minute. The phone will dial, but I won't be able to hear anything. So now that I'll have the data capability, how will that work? Will I still be able to use the Blackberry for my email while in the car (e.g. at a stop light, my man's driving [I'm not] and I'm still in the car, etc.) or will it be the same as the Motorola?

Thanks... Any insight would be great!

The 7100 works fine. Email and other functions are not affected. I have the 7100r (Canadian version of 7100) and paired it with my TL without a problem.

I currently use the 7100g and all features CID, BATT & SIGNAL display in the MID. You can set it up to auto-connect when in range like your current phone.

You can actually use the handset while in the car and connected, you just have to say the command "transfer" and the HFL will switch to the handset. You can switch back again using "transfer" as well. This allows you to continue a call initiated before entering the car in handsfree mode. As well as taking the call "with you" when you leave the car.

All Blackberries, while on a voice call, prohibit data transfer. So as long as you're not on a call, you can send/recieve email as much as you want. Also, I would recommend upgrading the Blackberry software to version 4.0.2 (latest release from Cingular) as it has quite a few fixes/improvements, especially with the bluetooth capabilities.
