Bitchin' Betty doesn't Listen to Wife
Bitchin' Betty being the Female nav voice..
I just picked up a new Anthracite Navi over the weekend for the wife. Well the Navi understands my commands about 90% of the time, and hers about 5% of the time. She yells at it, trys to break out her speech. She does somewhat have the voice of a child, as when she order's Pizza for example, they sometimes ask to speak to her mother!! Even though she is 28. Any tips in Talking to the Navi?

I found the best way to get her to listen and understand is to talk in a normal, conversational tone, pace, and volume. Intentionally putting pauses and forced annunciation only makes it worse. Also, speaking too loudly probably causes a distorted signal and makes recognition even tougher. The manual mentions something about the pacing being natural and not staccato for best results.
I've tried tricking mine with a "fast-talkin' southern redneck" voice just for fun and found it picked up every command quite easily. If I speak clearly, quickly, and at normal volume, it works almost 100% of the time. I don't know if her voice being childlike is a problem. My 7-year-old daughter has gotten pretty good results with it, so it may be your wife is trying too hard with the yelling and pausing.
Good luck. I hope she gets it to work as it's really a great feature when it does.

I found that the Male in the Navi systems responds better to the female voice commands! Probably just all in my head, but, I enjoy the male voice more than the female! Also, does not like zero as a number prefers just 0.
