Better Mic for HFL?

Has anyone found a way to get a better mic to work with the Hands Free Link when using the phone in Gen3's? Or a way to get better audio from the HFL oem mic when using the phone I have been told when I use the HFL with my phone the audio is terrible. If it matters I have a non navi Gen3 TL.

You may have a dud of an HFL mic, but replacing the mic = replacing the entire HFL unit, which is $$$!

it is. The fact you are having problems surprises me. Mine has been the best handsfree setup I have had in my past 3 cars. (the other 2 were aftermarket Kenwwod/Parrot)

Hola local guy! If I have a bad mic or want a better mic I have to replace the entire HFL unit? I was going to try to locate the mic with a sound test some day soon. Anyone know the location of the mic?

I believe the entire HFL unit and integrated mic are up there-- there are several threads on replacing the HFL unit for bad mics, failing to power off (TSB esp. for '04 MY), locking up, etc.

People I talk to can not even tell that I'm talking via HFL. They always comment on how clear it is after I tell them that you were on speaker for the last 30 mts.

the mic is located between the lights on the roof and the home link buttons. I just read that in my manual. I have been told that my sound quality is really bad and I'm trying to figure this out. Mine is still under warranty but need to know if it is a warranty issue.

I spoke with a Acura Service guy last night. He told me he will get me a phone # to call HFL and have they can trouble shoot the issue. He also told me Acura dealers can only service the HFL units after we call HFL and have them start a record on what the issue is and what HFL says may be wrong or needs to fix it. I will post the # and results HFL gives me asap.

Would you please pass the info on to me and/or give me an update on how it goes. I am interested in doing this myself. I need to test this out for myself first because I have never heard what it sounds like on the other end.

Called HFL today @ 1-888-528-8716. They opened a service call for my problem. They asked me to try a different phone to see if it's my phone causing the problem. If not I was told to call back and HFL will send my local dealer a new mic. I was also told my local dealer did advise me correctly to call HFL first to get this fixed.

GRRRR! Just called my local dealer that told me the part hasn't been ordered after two weeks of me waiting and not calling me cause I have to come in to have it checked to verify the problem and part to fix it. I can not find the part #'s for the hands free unit and mic. Does any one know the part #'s or how I can find them in the on line parts catalogs. I want to see if I can find them cheaper then my local stealer/dealer is going to stab me for one. Also may try to find one from a wreck.

If you are under warranty, this should be free.
