Best and worst of the BT phones
Ok.... since it looks like Verizon is a waste of my time, I pose this question to you all.
What appears to be the best phone/service combination to use with the HFL and what is the worst?
Rate on sound quality, available MID information, and ease of pairring.
i.e. X9000 for use on the Evil Corporation network shows signal and battery strength, caller ID, sounds great.
Of special interest would be phones not currently listed on the Acura site as compatible but have been tested in the wild.

Sony Ericsson T637 or K700 with the TL. Paired both of them at the dealer, awesome phones with great features...a bump up/replacement for the T616.
Worst... Sony Ericsson T39, Nokia 3650/6600 ... man talk about impossible and sometimes I wonder if it truly has bluetooth. lol

Actually, the worst has got to be the Motorola Timeport 270C - it has Bluetooth, but does not support the Bluetooth Hands Free Profile, so it is useless for the HFL. Way to go, Motorola and Verizon!

Even after all the threads on the Moto V600 not pairing, I went by the book and have had no problems. I was always a Nokia guy but now I love my V600, except for battery life.

On Long Island, when I have service with T-Mobile, it sounds PERFECT and it works 100% of the time. No problems or anything. Only problem is that around the Island sometimes the signal can be weak. I'm using an Unlocked/Unbranded Moto v600, btw.

I bought a Nokia 6230 (not available on US market) but I got a deal from a T-moblie dealer and tried the bluetooth on the TL. The TL found the phone as long as you follow the directions and works great. The speakers are loud and clear and it also gives you the phone signal. That was cool too.

I don't know what the phone's firmware version is...

I have been using a Siemens S56 with relatively no problem. Every once in a while it says it doesn't have a phone linked when the display shows a phone linked. This has only happened a couple of times. Other than that, no problems. Sound is very clear on this phone, too bad you can't get it any more. I had to get this one via AT&T on Amazon back in December.

Nokia 6820
Has anyone tried the Nokia 6820? Seems like a nice phone - also, where do you keep your phone when using Bluetooth? I'd like to just store it in the center console while plugged into the DC outlet; however, does that supress the range?

Nokia 6820 - AT&T
Paring simple
recognizes phone whenever I get in w/no issue
I keep phone in armrest on DC - no issue w/range (bluetooth is good for 30 feet)
Although it does not show signal strenght or battery life, it's not a big deal
Phone is very functional out of car.

I`ve got the T616, with Cingular. Even though it works with the Acura, I HATE the phone.
#1- The buttons are too small to read
#2- The batt level too small to read
#3- Have to go through too many sequences to check common tasks ( re-dial, delete, etc..)
#4- Button too small on top to shut off. ( you need a pointed object to turn on and off)
#5- Can`t read screen in day light
#6- Phone has crackling with incoming calls
#7- Phone protrouds out too far on belt clip (always hitting buttons with either arm, or other object)
SOLUTION; Get a clam shell phone that is easier to read AND use. ( where is my Star tac when you need it)

I've got the Nokia 3650 and it hasn't given me any problems so far. Very easy to pair, the range is good. Yeah it's a bulky ugly phone but I love it. I'm on Cingular btw.

1) The buttons are no smaller than on any other phone out there now. All phones are small these days its impossible to find one without tiny buttons.
2) Battery level too small to read? Not on the T637 but not sure about the old version.
3) I agree the menus could be more intuitive. I would like a button on the home page that allows me to get to the phonebook rather than have to dig through menus to get there.
4) I haven't noticed this but the again I never turn the phone off. Why would I?
5) One time I did notice it was tricky to read while I was in direct sunlight on a very bright sunny day. But are any other color screens really any better under the same circumstances?
6) Haven't noticed any crackling at all so far.
7) At the risk of pissing lots of people off, I'll say this: If you wear your phone on your belt you aren't cool you're a complete goober. Everyone over age 12 has a cell phone so wearing one on your belt isn't impressing anybody. Since I put mine in my pocket a flip phone is nice but not a requirement. I would rather have one that works properly with my TL than have a flip phone.
The T637 isn't perfect but works quite well for me.
