Best TL Phone?
mobilezen,
if you still have the Z600 there is the R5B001 firmware which i believe is the most recent release.
The big factor between the two also is the screen is better on the Z600. You can actually see it outdoors
As for the T630 black edition. one very nice phone! Again besides the screen change and the housing it is basically a T610.

Here's some news. Some crazy guys from Taiwan took a T630 screen and replaced it in the T610, then further changed the firmware of the T610 to a T630. It worked. That is as much chinese as I could read.
The T630 screen is 50 bucks and this process does indeed void your warranty so think wisely before going under the mighty T6 torx screwdriver.
...I still have yet to try the T630 screen on the T610 but it is VERY tempting to do.
V600...if you don't need video recording, get the V500/V525. V500 and V600 feel like very nimble phones and excellent quality...something quite different to what we have seen in the past with Motorola's quality. They are getting much better. Everybody is stepping up but Nokia, they want to design phones that are "innovative" but somehow come up short with odd looking designs and confusing keypads. I personally have a 6310i just because I got it for cheap and I'm holding over until the S65 Click here for some nice preview pics Siemens is also another manufacturer turning up the juice. I think by Q3, it will start getting competitive.
One other thing I would like to add about the T610 and T616. The newer model T610's that are coming out, be it OEM or by provider have the T616's antenna which is a good thing. Even though the phones are identical, the T616 antenna proved to be the stronger of the two...just an fyi.

very good info!!!
I agreee with you on the Nokia front. I was excited about the 6820 and it turned out to be a complete dud. the screen and menus need to be updated in a big way.
Some of the newer phones they have coming look okay but not in the same league as the other companies.

what carrier(s) are there for the SE z600? I don't see it on the sprint PCS website, but I was talking to them today trying to get info about the T608 and while the guy couldn't seem to find that phone, he did find four other SonyEricsson phones, one of which I think was the z600. Anyone running this phone on Sprint?
ck37 - If I lived in Cali...especially where you're at, I could sell phones by the thousands. It's so hard to do that from the middle of the U.S. Then again I'm the only person in DFW that offers any kind of firmware upgrade service on top of consulting for mobile gadgets so I guess that's a plus.
The Nokia 6230 will be a worthy piece of technology. If Siemens can shape up the O/S on the S65 then the 6230 will be byebye before it even has a chance to say hello. I strongly believe that Nokia has some monkey in a cage just drawing phones all day and they come and accept those designs.
So...actually to answer the thread question that was posted (seems like) ages ago. Here is a small list with no order in mind.
* Sony Ericsson T610/T616 (Awesome phone @ a budget price.)
* Motorola V500/V600 series (If you have the cashflow go for it!)
* Nokia 6310i (VERY slim phone with bluetooth. Good for backup phone that's why I'm using mine now but other than that, look elsewhere)
* Siemens S56 (solid phone with a quarky interface, the S65 will be a noticeable improvement)
These are my favorite phones thus far...still the question remains: Why hasn't Samsung put out a phone with bluetooth
AirlineMuseum.c: The Z600 is a GSM phone. It will not work with Sprint. There is no CDMA version out just yet.

trust me being in Cali and being involved in the wireless business is hell at times. There is soo much competition it's insane. It sounds like you have made a niche for yourself in DFW. The grass is not greener over here. Trust me
I have been hearing alot on the 6230. While the features rival the V600 in many ways i can't get into the styling of the phone. If they would have put that technology in the 7200 (flip phone?) the it would be a great piece in my opinion.
As for the Z600 it is a GSM phone only. Sorry there Airline, but you will have to wait for the motorola V710 ( verizon) or the new one that was announced today. Ahh.. forget the name right now but it is a CDMA/GSM world phone.
If any of you out there are reading this going what the hell are they talking about? take a look at www.phonescoop.com
There you can find all the info on pretty much every model coming out or that is currently out.
Also what carier will have what etc.

question to experts from cell dummy. I tried a Siemens S56 from Cingular. This GSM phone had poor reception at my home near Tulsa and when traveling. Our old US Cellular was much better.
Is my problem the GSM is not as universal as CDMA and if so what are the best CMDA choices out there now? Otherwise I liked the S56 and worked very well in town in the TL
thanks

SE T616 clipping the speakers? Mobilezen
My T616 crackles through the speakers. It sounds as if the speakers can't handle the volume. Others on the list have had the same problem I have been wondering if a firmware upgrade would help.
Thx
Thx
CDMA currently is more widespread than GSM. However in the next year or two that might be different with the Cingular/AT&T merger.
Also someyimes the phone alone can make a difference. The S56 is a decent phone but there are others that have been known for better reception.
If trying another phone doesn't work then your best bet is to wait for someone like Verizon or you could even try Sprint's bluetooth phone.
In the next 4-6 months there will be choices from all carriers when it comes to bluetooth.

I think iDEN phones will never get bluetooth because it might interfere with the walkie talkie feature or vice versa. By Q3, as I said, things will start looking very good for GSM technology. In 5 years though, I certainly hope 3G will finally hit the U.S.... well eventually it will.

Hi,
Are we the only ones who's having "PHONE" display problem? I haven't heard anybody else complaining about this. It's not a big deal, but it is annoying. Have you found any remedy for it? Thanks.

To give everyone an update,
I just switched from the V600 to the Sony Ericsson Z600. Besides being able to see the battery meter now, I noticed better connection, and the one thing that it does now, is when you want to input an extention such as "1024" when you are on a call, The V600 could not handle this option, where as the SE Z600 and I suppose other Sony Ericssons handle this very well.

I guess the quest for the perfect phone continues. In a mean time, I switched over to my old phone, SE T68i. I like T616 better as a phone, but with T68i, I'm have no trouble with bluetooth... Hopefully with next T616 firmware, things will improve.

Audinomore: I must have skipped past this post. In any case, if anyone is wondering about this problem, please check this link: http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76048
Anybody know of/recommend a phone w/ bluetooth, appropriately configured for the TL, that also has a Palm PDA and camera? Samsung SPH-i500 seems to have all but bluetooth (can it be added-on)?
Thanks in advance

P900 in the TL
that's because the P900 does not have the "handsfree" bluetooth profile
the P900 only has the "car" and "headset" bluetooth profile.
try using the Parrot Bluetooth Cig Lighter Mic/Speakerphone unit, it works great.

I have T-Mobile SE610 and the thing works great. I did have "bluetooth lost connection" once and I was able to pick up the phone to complete the conversation, but I think it had something to do with interference from outside since my radar detector was going crazy at the same time.
Jabra is coming out with a Bluetooth speaker and there is a bluetooth kit you can buy from Sony Eriisson for around $199 I believe but yes, its a pity that the P800/P900 do not support Handsfree Profile....the P800 doesn't even have the generic bluetooth profile, only headset profile.

Yes it will work. What I have also found out since AT&T launched the V600 for their service is that the V600 did dial extensions or correctly this time. Might have been a firmware upgrade.
My suggestion is if you are somewhat new to the whole bluetooth game, stick with the handset maker who does it best. Sony Ericsson.
The Z600 is a greeat phone ir even look at the T630, T616.
hope this helps.
