While I just bought my 05 TL 4 days ago, I had long been anticipating the excitement I'd have when I could listen to the Dual Discs I have been stockpiling for the past few months. I have since found out that I cannot play this format of a disc. I have come to understand and accept why this is
Here's my problem. I just bought a copy of Beethoven's 9th, conducted by Barenboim in DVD Audio format on Amazon. I am quite upset that this disc will not play in my car either.
Does anyone have an explanation, solution, word of wisdom or any other advice as to why this has happened?

 

Several people in the reviews section on Amazon said that the disc doesn't play in the TL, but they say it works fine with other DVD-A systems. Couldn't really find an explanation for why.

 

I have returned several discs already with lots of hassel at store. So here are facts

"Dual Disc", will NOT likely to play. Sony BMG produced many discs under this logo including Jessica Simpson and it is DVD-Video Audio Only format. Therefore TL gives Format Error message.

"DVD Audio/Video", produced by some infamous brand did not play. It says both Audio slash video on cover and have DTS logo on the back. However it is again DVD-Video format and does not play in TL

"DTS" watch out for this one. only half of those titles with DTS logos will play. I had several DTS titles (Bethoven*) and none of them worked so I returend.


Here are ones that will work
"Advanced Resolution" - this is only for DVD audio and it always worked for me
"DVD-Audio" - don't get confused with DVD-Audio/Video , DVD
"Dolby Digital, Dolby AC-3" - these ones all worked so far.
