Smile Base '05 "system build"

Current audio upgrade(s) Grom bluetooth adapter for audio streaming(optional 3.5mm jack and iphone 4 jack included) i know

anyway my speakers are factory and all blown except for tweets and center. doing a simple moderate "upgrade" of the speakers and adding a moderate amp for the speakers

im thinking about going with 6 1/2" Kicker-40CS654 for the doors and rear deck Kicker-41DSC354 for the center and sub Pioneer-TS-SW2002D2 which is free air all powered by a 4 channel amp JBL-GX-A604

like i said im looking for a modest upgrade not trying to spend too much $$$$ but improve on my current situation

I plan on keeping the fronts and center on stock amp and rear deck on new amp for two reason one $$ two and most importantly i want to be able to switch the rear off when im on the phone using the hfl

any suggestions would be appreciated thx in advance

P.S i have one quick question ive seen other threads where people using a loc grab the signal after the amp...wouldnt it be better to ghrab the signal straight from the factory head unit?? just a thought

Ci installed my kickers in the door and center channel got damn did that make a huge difference in the sound. The front stage sounds great still running off the factory amp. Now I'm wondering if I should put the fronts on the aftermarket amp or the rears. I can barely hear the rears now only the sub. Any suggestions opinions are appreciated

yes you want matching components with their passive crossover. what you have is not good

@pohljm when you say not good please explain further..kicker does have a set of compnents with tweets and crossover so i can easily switch that up..

as of now with just what ive done im impressed over what was oem i just want that deep bass with clear mids and highs(on a budget of coursse) not sure how realistic that is while keeping trunk space...btw thx for responding I appreciate it

I don't think the center does anything on the 04-06 besides navi and DVD-A.

Upgrading the tweeters is the first thing I would have recommended. The acura ones are clear but not by that much. They sound very tinny too. Go with aftermarket tweeters to complement the rest of the system and you'll be way happier.

the center was the first thing i changed..i heard a lil difference but when i did the doors major difference noticed asap!! now i can actually hear the music on the highway windows down

now i just looked at the kicker tweets and when purchased without the woofer they come w/ an inline crossover as opposed to a regular crossover when purchased as a component set w/ woofers.

i think i read here on az that inline crossovers are no bueno true? false?

Sound seems to come out even on my stereo CDs but I'd be lying if I said it brings anything special. It's not used as a center channel per se AFAIK unless Navi or DVDA with proper channel mixing.

My 05 TL has all factory speakers (thus far) but I removed the factory amp and put an Alpine power pack (KTP 445U) in its place. Its fits perfectly in the passenger kick panel if you stand it up and secure it with zip ties. This is a good budget solution as its only $110 bucks but adds alot of power. I tried an Isimple IS32 but hated it and ended up putting in an aftermarket radio and building a dash kit. Id add pics but im on a shitty prepaid smartphone that wont upload. The power pack supports my dash tweets and center channel, but I left the factory sub disconnected because I have 2 12" rockfords. I built a bracket and carpeted it to support the sub amp, up against the back of rear seats in trunk. I gave up the little drop down ski carrier hole.

Thinking real hard on swapping out the factory amp and putting a mb quart na1 320.4 or a Kenwood kac-m3004 and put one of them in the factory location just for the front stage also changing out my tweets with kicker cst20.

this past weekend I upgraded my system. replaced rear speakers and factory sub, added an amp(fronts and rear sub) and lc7i sounds better than stock can actually feel the bass hit in drivers seat. rear deck still rattles despite my efforts to dampening the vibration. still need to add tweets up front but im ready to do a custom ported box that vents through ski hole i want that BOOM lol will post pics tomorrow

thx to @pohljm you really helped me out

Bump bump..So Now I'm back and ready to "finish" my audio upgrade. I'm swapping the factory hu to 8200nex and considering adding another amp for sub (jbl ms-a500.1) Dont want to spen too much on a sub setup. Got tired of the pioneer in factory location, not enough "boom" for my taste. Looking at an IB setup vs my previous plan( jl audio w7ae 8 inch ported through ski hole) but ib seems to be cheaper and takes up less room.

Here's a link to different IB setups
Car Audio Subwoofer Enclosures Second Order, Infinite Baffle, Free Air

which one is best and what types of IB speaker should i get? read thru some other posts and most speakers aren't available anymore
