Has anyone tried installing the AV Electronics video switcher in the new 2007 TL-S?

I know it'll work, the Navi wiring harness is the same.

Here's my install on my 2006 TL:

Since the 2007 come with a reverse camera, what would be really cool would be front mounted camera that came on with the flip of a switch to help your double parking.

How would make that feature work? Hook a camera into the AV Electronics switcher??

The AVelectronic unit supports a "auto" reverse camera feature just like dom's unit.

Since the 2007 already have a reverse camera, I'm suggesting using the auto reverse aamera feature as a "front" camera.

But it would be pointless to come on while its in reverse. Would benefit while your inching forward, but would it know how to do that?

right... so you wire the "auto reverse" function into a toggle switch, and flip it while inching forward, see what I'm saying?

I ordered the "budget" version today, it will be here on Friday. I have no idea yet on where to put the thing, but I'll figure it out. A few guys on here have a half din DVD player, and I found a few models that have a TV tuner as well, but is the tuner worth the money? Do I stick the ol' rabbit ears on the rear deck?

I think I will play with a camera that I can turn on to show the front of the car. Since I lowered mine, I'm scared of parking curbs, so I back in. A camera would save my lower bumper.

I have installed the av electronics budget version in my 2007 TL. Mounted in the trunck next to the Navi unit. Installed DVD player in-dash (Myron and Davis (AD212)) and (2) headrest monitors for the back. No TV tuner

I want to get doms unit but there is just no way I can tackle this project. I just don't feel comfortable doing something like this when I have never done it before or even seen it done in person. I know there are videos out there and such... Anyone want to come to jersey and help a member out? haha

Hey daman, can you tell me what kind of switch you used to flip between nav and video on the front screen please? Make or part number, and where you got it would be appreciated. I'm gonna tap my in-console power adapter to feed the nav switcher, but I just need help sourcing a switch. Thanks.

its pretty simple, and if you can handle a screw drive and a pair of pliers, you can do it. I can PM you details on how simple it is.....
