AUX and iPod/iPhone connection
AUX and iPod/iPhone connection
Just bought the 06 TL about a week ago and it came with what it looks like an aftermarket Ipod/Aux connections located in the arm rest area. 2 separate cables, one is aux and the other is Ipod cable.
Plugging in the iphone or just the aux didn't do anything, so I did an extensive search here and other places on the internet. All the suggestions like trying it through the XM or CD changer dint work for me..
So my question is, does anyone know how to get it to work?
Thank you in advance, any help would be greatly appreciated.

What you need to know is the brand of the interface- they all generally work the same, but the instructions from your unit, once you know what it is, can be accessed on the net. You may have to take off some of the under dash plastics (very easy to do) to see what unit you have (unless you can contact the prior owner and find out). If the unit you have doesn't work, it's very easy to just install a new one (many threads on here about that).
The ipod connector says "Peripheral" on it, which i assume would be the brand, but i was unable to find much info about this brand on the net. Haven't tried looking under dash yet, but it might be my next step.
Any brands you would recommend if i wont be able to get this one to work?
Thank you

I have a Blitzsafe in my TL which doesn't allow for steering wheel control of the iPod/iPhone. Others that people have here are the iSimple and USA Spec (I have the USA Spec in the wife's CTS- works very well and retains steering wheel controls).
There's lots of threads here about interfaces, just search them out.

Update: found out that i actually do have an iSimple
Did a search and found the manual for it and followed the instructions, and it worked like a charm-both AUX and Ipod connections work!
Thank you again for your help!
