Anyone using FM Modulators for Nav to DVD conversion?

Hey everyone,

Is anyone out there using an FM modulator for sound for the Nav to DVD conversion? I've heard that the sound quality from these modulators are pretty bad and that they generate a lot of static. I've also heard the flip side that FM modulators for audio when playing DVD's isn't too bad.

I know that going the PIE X3 converter option is the best way but I don't think that will be an option for me because my 14 pin connector on the back of my radio is used up by the Acura Music Link.

Any feedback would be great!

Thanks!

I say just get the PIE x3...you will NOT regret it. I know you have acura link but the x3 gives you more options and you could always add an ipod audio adapter to work with the x3. I just installed my x3 this weekend and the sound quality is awesome! You only hear xm bleed through when volume is around 30 and up but whoever takes it that high unless your deaf?!? Get rid of the acura link and put the x3 in!

I'm using it and the quality isnt bad for the TV and DVD. However there is some noise when I hook up my IPOD. I'm about to replace the modulator for the PIE x3 in order to get rid of any noise.

Before I decided ont eh PIE x3 I was goig to get my modulator replaced in hopes of getting the best possible reception. However after connecting several modulators my install guys narrowed pinpointed the interference to my tv tuner.

If the modulator is your only option I would try different modulators in order to get the best result. I know there are some that only have the feed through one channel and some that will feed several in case their is any interference on a particular channel.

I wish I could go the PIE X3 route but when I contacted PIE directly, they said that people have reported issues with installing the PIE converter along with the Music Link.

Because of this, I'm thinking about uninstalling my Music Link and going another iPod integration route.

Jimmy,

Let me know what you end(ed) up doing on this ... I have DOM's Navi converter with the DVD player and backup camera ... but I also want to add my Ipod and want to see what you end up doing for it. I know there's a lot of options for us and just wanna see something in person that someone actually did.

And if you have the links to exactly what you bought .. please post as well.

Thanks - Nick
