At that time, XM did not offer service in Canada, as with the Hawaiian models. I have seen one that was shipped in. Working for a retailer and being an installer, I know alot about the XM and Sirius services. Not to mention I did a report on it for a college speech class. At that time, XM did not provide any service(on purpose) to Canada. If you drove your US model car up, it would work for a good trek into Canada. They used to say it would work 250 Miles outside the boarders, this included Mexico, Canada, and some of the Islands in the Caribbean. Now they have expanded the service ($$$$$$$) to include Canada. Mexico is still not included at this time.
This question is somewhat difficult to answer, we would need more info. First, are you wanting it to be like the US XM units that came with the car? Or where you just wanting to add a aftermarket unit to the car? Price wise, you won't want to do the first. You would have to replace the radio, as yours does not have the XM button on it. you would then need to get the factory tuner box, the harness, and the Antenna. Your best bet will be to go with a small permanent unit, and a AUX in adapter. Mount the display in the pocket right below the radio and run it in through the CD-C aux in.
