Anyone ever use a place called Radioactive in Ontario, California?

I am needing to get my system reinstalled and purchase new equipment. The insurance company is really pushing me to use the above company, but I don't know anything about them.

Wondering if anyone has any experience with them?

I need customer mounts, fiberglassing, etc.

Thanks
DTT

Cross street is Mission.

Their number is 909-464-1010.

Let me know what you find. They say they do fiberglass work and custom wood.

I really appreciate it.

So I stopped by to take a look at this place. When I got there the place was locked. Great! I went around back and they were all in the back working on cars. Nice place. They had a couple of trophies (big trophies) sitting in the shop. They sell wheels, tires, tint, the usual custom car stuff. I talked to a guy named Ken. He does all their fiberglass custom stuff. He was very knowledgeable and talked like he's been doing this for a very long time. He was familiar with TLs. We talked about my install and he asked all about it. How I connected the amps, what kind of LOCs I'm using, if I retained my stock HU. He didn't try to sell me anything. I asked him about doing a custom sub box for my car. He said it would be better if I stay with what had. I asked if they do audio tuning. He said they did if I needed it or wanted it. He also said if I like my current SQ there is no need to.

Pretty much a honest guy who didn't try to sell me anything.

I give this place a

Wow sounds like an almost winner...now I will just take the drive myself and speak to them.

I know the place was closed, but did you happen to notice what brands they sold? The insurance company told me that I can get another brand of amp as PG doesn't sell that model anymore.

Any suggestions for a power 4 channel amp?

Why 4 channels?

Going to bridge two of the channels for the sub, and use a 3rd for the center speaker in the dash, and will be wasting the 4th.

Thanks

Actually they had just locked the front door since they were all in the back. I noticed Focal, MA Audio, audiocontrol, mostly high end stuff.

I'm using an Alpine PDX4.100 for the fronts and rears, a PDX1.600 for the sub and one channel of a JL audio e2150 for the center. Will you get enough watts for the sub from a bridged channel?

It did before. I am trying for the life of me remember the exact one I had...lol

I believe it was about 200 or so for the single 10" sub I had. Then a single 100 watts for the center. Another 100 wasted.

So it was fine at the time.

I have an audiocontrol Matrix for the stabilizing of the frequencies.

I am going to try and make it out there tomorrow. I will keep you updated!

Well I went to their store today and met with Ken. He is a VERY knowledgeable person. I saw some of his work also..... WOW it was great.

He was mortified as to how they chopped up my car. We have to replace everything, all the wires. He asked alot of question as to where I broke into the signal from the amp. He wanted to make sure that I got it low level before the stock amp and that I cut it directly out.

Anyway he had some GREAT ideas for remolding the amp area in wood and fiberglass. Also some placement ideas for the new amps. He has convinced me to do three amps. 4 Channel for the front and rears. Mono or 2 channel for subs (depends if I do 1 or 2 10's) Plus a single mono small amp for the center channel.

Says it would sound much better overall by giving the subs their own power.

I will take pictures of before and after.

Thanks for heading down there, I really appreciate it! When I drop the car off, lets see if we can meet for lunch or something! I owe you!

Hey Buddie,

You have provided us with some great stories and myself with lots of great advice that got me started on my audio install.

I figure it's the least I could do for you.

But I would like to see it when it's done. Sounds like it's going to be a real install.

so I guess your car was broken into? what did you have to provide the insurance company with to prove the car stereo was in there. my friends subs and amps were stolen and the insurance company would cover it. did you have to have before pictures and receipts?

looking forward to the pics!

Ok my insurance company is State Farm. So I cannot vouch for other companies.

What I did, and I suggest everyone do this. When I got my items installed I called my agent and got my account noted with the purchases. With prices, model type and everything.

So it was documented.

When I called about the issues, they had all the notes and all was good. Pictures were not needed.
