Question Anyone else's NAV a bit off????

I recently purchased a 04 TL w/navi. I noticed that the navigation was a bit off at all intersections. It shows me as being further away on a road when I’m actually right at the crossroads. This is at all major roads, not just small ones. I live in Miami so I figure it should be accurate and almost precise. At first I thought it was because I was using the hack mod but when I switched back it was still off. Is this normal or should I take it in to have it looked at? It just seems a bit lame that it would be that far off. Would the new 3.7 disc update help this or is this in the nav system itself? Like I said, it’s on the right road generally but it is just a bit off or delayed, meaning always showing I’m farther away than I really am. Any help would be appreciated, thanks again from a newb!!

Well it's not perfect.. the GPS satellites aren't exactly hovering over your car, there's always that "accurate within _____ feet". If you unplug your battery for like.. 20 mins or so and start the car up the GPS will reinitialize, note that you have to have the car RUNNING and you CANNOT move it until the process is complete. Make sure you're in a completely open area, not a garage, under trees, etc.

I understand that the GPS isn't perfect but it seems strange that it is always the same amount off or behind. It seems every intersection is the same so maybe I will try to reset. This would completly rest the car I assume meaning you would re enter the radio codes as well as have to refind the xm signal correct?

Correct - you'll need your NAV and Radio codes; the screen should turn white with red text and give you a big warning about not moving the vehicle while it's locating

you can also try the manual adjustment in one of the setup screens

You can also pull the fuse for it too. An easy way to solve the problem is use the readjustment tool in setup, I believe its page 3 or 4. also the car must be parked for this.

OR

You can use the "Adjust Position" option and "tweak" your on-screen position a tad.

I don't recall exactly where in the menu structure that option is, but I've used it.

It is not a Super-Fine adjustment, but if you consistently lag, I'd think bumping your position up a hair might compensate for the difference.

I thought the position adjustment option only let you rotate your car 360, not move forward or backward, is there another screen somewhere I don't know about? Thanks again,

I've "bumped it" as described forward and backward in my setup screens.

I would say it's consistently off by about 50 feet or so. Not really an issue for me.

My NAVI does the same, but only since I upgraded my disc last year. Been wondering if it is a problem with the software or just that my adjustment got "off" during the update process.
