What's the impedence of the 1021t? I noticed they have a sensitivity of 93, which is really good, but the 1011t's are optimal for a couple of reasons:

- 4ohm impedence, which matches stock
- silk dome tweeter (this is preference thing)

It's hard to find any real data on those 1021's...

Infinity Reference 1021t 1" textile dome tweeters

Product Features

* 1" textile dome tweeters
* flush- and surface-mount hardware included
* Starfish bracket for mounting in factory tweeter locations
* 2,500 Hz passive in-line crossovers
* power handling: 2-50 watts RMS (150 watts peak power)

I can't find any info on the ohms... I even looked on infin's webpage but got no hits.

They are probably a minor upgrade/revision of the 1011t tweeters. Hopefully the external diameter is still the same because the 1011t were stupid-easy to install in the stock grilles.

All i know is that the standard tweeter Ohm's are 4, and the 1011T are 4. I am not worried in reguards to the Tweeters, as for the center channel, the original center chan is 4ohm and the 32.7 is 2ohm, as someone mentioned earlier it should hit harder.

It's A okay as far as I know.

Interesting question about using 2 ohm tweeters in addition to the 2 ohm center. It seems the amp is already working harder with the 2 ohm center since the original was 4. I'm not an audio expert, so I don't really know whether the 2ohm tweeters will do any harm.

I thought I read that the stock door speakers were rated at 2 ohms also. I'm pretty sure the door speakers and tweeters are wired in "parallel" which would usually result in a lower ohm rating. Two ohm door speakers and two ohm tweeters may give you somewhere around 1 ohm of resistance letting the electrons flow a little faster and warming up the amp a little more than usual. Since we're not talking about subwoofers, the stock amp may be able to handle the load because of the small speaker sizes. It may be a different story if you like listen to your music full blast for long periods of time. I'd be concerned about the stock amp which may run hotter without adequate ventilation. Hopefully it won't give off that "magic smoke" that was installed at the factory.

i just did the tweeter and cc upgrade. sounds great, except there is a little white noise from the cc cus of the ohm droppage but it is not noticeable unless you have the car off and there is no noise outside. upgrading these 3 speakers is well worth the small amount of cash and low amount of time involved.

I did my upgrade today! I even soldered the pins - which I thought would be a nightmare for me but it went well. One side of the pin at a time - soldered and heat shrunk before moving to pin #2. That way I could ensure the two sides wouldn't touch one another.

I read earlier that in a 2005 TL these wires were +/-.........same color wires in my 2006 so I assume this applies to 06 as well.

Left Tweeter:
Light Green= (+)
Purple= (-)

Right Tweeter:
Blue=(+)
Red=(-)

With that being said how do I know which wires coming from the speakers are positive and negative???

I have them hooked up now - tried them both ways and couldn't hear any difference - but I would like to make sure I have them hooked up correctly (pos/neg) .........tweeter and center.....

Is there an easy was to tell which wire is +/- on the speaker wires??? And am I doing any harm right now if I have them crossed?

BTW - Thank you to Crook, Adobe, AMIC and Kennedy for all of your help. You guys are great and I appreciate the answers you have all given me already. I'm learning so much!

Oh my god.......(feeling really stupid now)...............yeah it seems they did include the instructions inside the speaker boxes.........I just went to the workbench and found it.

SORRY!!!

In all honesty I didn't even look at them earlier since I wasn't using the speakers in the conventional manner with all of the attachments.

Thanks Kennedy.......I'll have to go check tomorrow and make sure I got the right connections going on.

I did the front speakers today... I could only tell there was a difference when I had the sub on and the music faded to the center.

I look forward to getting the rear speakers when they come in...

I had to modify the front door speakers. Move the tweeter connector to the back of the speaker... I pry that I dont have to take them out again.. It really wasnt that fun.

Ughhhh....

Well, I too have upgraded my tweeters and my center speaker, with the 1011's and the 32.7. I also have four 62.7's to install...today, I thought I was going to install all of them, but I only got the front left 62.7 installed...it took FOREVER!!!! I've been trying to make sure I get everything perfect though, and I covered the entire inside of the door with Dynamat Xtreme, which also took forever...I am tired, and upset that I didn't finish the job today, but, it's all worth it in the end. So far is sounds MUCH better than before, especially the treble.

Thanks AMIC....... yeah I got it done. I had to go back and check the +/- connections today - after reading the directions.....and consulting with my mentor.....(Kennedy)...LOL.

Turns out I had the wires on right afterall........I just didn't know it.

It wasn't as bad as I thought - I even soldered the pin things.......can't figure out how they are suppose to be zip tied but I have them taped up pretty well - they should hold.

All I have left to do are the doors!

I epoxied the tweeter input to the top of the speaker and put a little on the metal ring and speaker holder...

Did other people do it differently?

So far its good... The only problem was the gold screws. They were a little too tall... The fronts were alot easier then the rears...

I put the rears in tonight 9PM - 2 AM... Well I did a little dynamatting at the same time. I tried to cover all the holes in the rear deck for the future sub...

I also took out the center seat belt. I pushed it over to the far side after unbolting it.

Had to drill my own hole, the other two were there already.. Then knock the bumps off the mounts and screw it in. I just want everyone else to know that these arent a drop-in for rears. But it wasnt that hard.

Moving that input seems to make the speaker fit in the housing without cutting it up...........I like it

How much would it cost to have this installed?

I am intrigued about the possibility of upgrading my tweeters and center channels. However, no matter how easy people are saying it is, I know my level of mechanical ability and I am do not want to even attempt this on a brand new car. How much do you guys think a reputable car audio shop or Tweeter (I have a lot of faith in their brands so I am assuming their car install is decent as well...of course they filed for bankruptcy today! ). Does anyone have a recommended shop for this work in Atlanta?

So for those of you that did the Infinity speaker upgrades, first did you do all the speakers, including back deck? What did you do about sub. Then are you happy and what difference have you noticed? I find the ELS, weak, and muddy sounding. I got ina 07 Altima with Bose yesterday and I normally hate Bose, but it was so clean and deep and rich compared to the ELS. Also the 440 watt JBL Toyota offers int he 07 Camry also cleaner, deeper and richer than the ELS, so anyone have any advice? Is a speaker only upgrade good enough? Does the ELS have clean enough soudn that if I add additional amps and repalce the speakers will it be good, or os the ELA head just crap?

I plan to add an unamplified JL 8W3V2-4. I have spent alot of time trying to seal the rear deck so I think it will add a little bump... Other then that I'm happy with my infinity upgrade.

Just finished mine. Used the 63.7 3 way doors. Infinity 4 ohm 3.5" 2 way center, and the 1021 2 ohm tweets. I was going to use the Kappa tweets but after hearing the doors, I was afraid the sound might be a little harsh with them that close to my ears. I'm very happy with my choice. The 2 ohm tweets are not overpowering and the sound quality is great. Best thing is the 1021s drop right in without modifications and the crossovers don't have to be soldered in.

I could not be more happy with the way mine turned out... along with the two 12W6s in the trunk. It's more than I could ever want and I can finally say I'm done with the audio portion except for dynamat. No need for an amp for the highs. The W6s are turned down to 1/3 of the way on the amp and -5 on the headunit. I probably could've used just one lol.

I believe I already PM'ed you a while back with this. So in short, adding the amp made the small improvement into a great improvement, right?

Just buy the pair and sell the other one. I think they go pretty fast on the Black Market forum.
