Another Non-Nav to Nav conversion almost complete....

i used the 04-05 ETM to figure out the wiring. Everything was the same on the back of the 07 drive with the exception of there being an extra 7 pin connection that i still dont know what it goes to.. Guess ill have to wait until someone buys the 07 ETM to find out. The two best answers i have gotten are navtraffic and the camera... not really sure..

No.
The ETM shows that extra connector (from the DVD drive) as being the backup camera.
The ANC and aux connectors are off the radio unit.
Here's a scan of the connectors schematic: http://picasaweb.google.com/benzeppe...37220840356370 Connector G is the 7 pin in question.

It won't let me PM you for some reason? Must be too new of a registration or something? Please send it to zantman4@yahoo.com if you could? Thanks again

not trying to hijack the thread but. going with this picture
if i wanted an aftermarket screen. could i just get a temperature display like the oem nav has. and then just take out my radio/temperature display. and plug in an aftermarket screen at that spot? or would the wiring not work out?

It's definitely possible but I ended up doing the full conversion. You could do something like this:
One thing you won't get is a clock that can be set. It'll start at 1:00 when power is applied.

This is an aftermarket lcd inside the factory navi bezel/case.
The board on the back of the case is the backlight circuit and the long one is the controls for the lcd with the IR detector extended (gray wire).
I also have a RGBs to VGA converter (the white box with the power supply bolted to it) so I could feed the signal from the dvd drive. I have some other things that would allow me to switch from factory navi to carputer.
Unfortunately, the Dynamix lcd ate through touch array's like candy. I went through 3 before giving up. It's very hard to find 8" WS 4 wire resistive arrays so I am just using factory navi now. Someday I'll get back to it.

I am looking at doing the non nav to nav install on my TSX. I have the shop manual and the ETM as well. Can you send me a description, or a how to on how you made the harness. E-mail or PM is fine if you could help. mlmorriskramer@aol.com

I just pickup an 07 drive to put in my 04 w/nav. Is the interface faster, does it seem to be quicker calculating routes? What other things have you noticed between the two units? Do you know if a camera from an 07 will plug in and work, or is there something else needed to make it work? Thanks, Chris

Good quality leds last more than 3000 hour so I don't have to worry about burn out or change again.

Good idea I'll have to look into doing that then. I tried using led bulbs but it just wasn't working with the resistors they had in them. I take it you can't dim though right? Did you tap off of something else just as a trigger or did you tap off the oem board for dimming purposes. You understand what I mean?

Dimmer works fine,
What I did is remove original bulb and find positive and negative(easily with multi meter) on the circuit board and soldering postive side to led register and negative side to diode.
Less than an hour job.
I thought change ac control too but it will not match with other light so I ended with navi button only but it looks cool and unique
Another idea is that you could see joystick has silver trim ring you could drill the hole may be 2 or 3 then use red same size led and hot glue it it will show red when you move joystick(you must drill the hole behind the black plastic housing where center screw are located(you will understand easily when you remove housing.
Just remember there is 11wire connector are attached on the navi button I cannot remember but there is red and black wire is not the power + and -.
check the 2nd and 3rd or 4th wire that is the wire positive and negative
This is best viewing at night(Blue look different but it wasn't must be color reflection)

do you have to wire anything to the new steering wheel controls when you are doing a non-nav to nav conversion. Cause I found a TL wheel with nav for $40 so I was thinking of just swapping them out.

Dvd
Hey guys,
My girlfriend wants DVD for our daughter. If I buy the OEM Nav unit, is it simply plug and play for DVD and radio? Eventually I would buy the rest of the parts, and wire the nav, but I am looking for a clean, fast fix to her DVD problem. Any help would be great. We have a 2004 TL. Thank you!
