Amp location???

I am going to install my amp and sub next week. I got a fiberglass box from ebay CAS http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=022 My question is does anyone have any good suggestions on where to put the amp?? I want to keep it looking as factory as possible, and keep as much trunk space as possible. Thanks for the help!!!!

The cleanest looking place, although not the most practical, is where the spare is. It looks great, but sucks when you have a flat.

Which amp you installing, Cuz I think it was kennedy who installed the amp within the spare trunk, removed the foam and it fit in perfectly. I tried with a JL 500/1 but its too big, so Mine has been just chillin in the trunk for like the last year and a half

I think this is what you're looking for;

1/2 inch wood board drilled to the trunk frame, right behind the back seat. This is my set up. Optimal trunk space, easy to remove the sub box, and STILL got my spare! Only this was A LOT of work. Any random stereo shop will just drill your amps straight to your back seat, SO BE CAREFULL if you chose not to do it yourself!

Completely out of sight - lose the spare or put it under one of the front seats if it will fit..
Mostly out of sight - build a rack in the opposite corner of the sub with a cover to enclose the rack and dvd rom drive or build a rack that attaches to the bottom of the rear deck..

I have mine on the back of the box. The only down side is if you want to pull the box out, you have to unhook all the wires. However, it keeps it looking clean and uncluttered.

You can do this. I lost about 3 inches from the floor where the amps are placed and I still have access to my spare. I still have a little bit of work to do on it before it's 100% done

Thanks for all the ideas guys. King of Pain, that looks AWESOME!! I think I might try to see if I can make something to fit in where the foam in in the spare. The thing is I am afraid it won't get any air down there and will overheat. What do you guys think??

Dammm, Pain!!! That's a clean-ass install!! Thanks for making mine look like ass!!!
hahaha. But seriously, that looks sharp without sacrificing much trunk space. How do you get to the spare? Can you pop it open and snap a picture?

TL advance,
As long as your amp has some open air, you should be alright with dissepating (spell check) the heat. Unless you plan on soundbombing the entire time you drive. Most descent brand amps run pretty efficiently and don't generate as much heat. But then again you can always run CPU fans, like I had in my gen2 TL.

This is a pic after I stripped it, before selling it... It was like breaking up with a girlfriend of 2 years and asking for my teddy bear back. lol!

Just something to think about, if you go that route.

TLadvanced, what amp you planning on running?

Like Mrlunecy said, if you running a good quality amp you don't have to worry about the heat, unless you tryin to drive with the sub level at full, and bass level at full.... How def and numb you wanna get?!

Here's how I get to the spare.

Take off the beauty board:

Pull up on the amp Rack

There's the spare

That's some Professional show quality sh!t right there, Pain! Everything is clean-cut and perfect! Where'd you get that done? And (if you don't mind me asking) what's the price of an install like that?
Thanks for the quick response.

I did it myself. I do all my own audio installs.

I'll start my own thread later when I'm 100% done. I want to make some small changes to the trunk and improve the imaging on the front speakers. It's built for SQ. I like the look and space saving advantages of side mounted subs but I feel that the best SQ come from centered rear firing subs.

It won't fit within the spare tire

Well, I changed my mind on amps. I'm gonna run a Bazooka BA1500 mono 500W RMS amp, and 1 12" Infinity Perfect single voice coil. I hope they will work well together . I can't find specs on the sub. It is a few years old, and most of the new Infiniti Perfect subs are DVC. My question is this: If the Baooka amp makes 500RMS @ 2 ohm's will the Infiniti run @ 2 ohms as well? Also, does anyone know how to wire the amp to work off the factory stereo's sub gain control on the navi screen??

I agree. Datmrman, where do you have your amp installed? any suggestions on where I can find more information on how to mount an amp in the spare tire compartment?

I wish i would have scrolled down lower before my first post. King of Pain... PLEASE keep me posted when this thread is put up. I would LOOOOOOOOOOVE to know how you did the spare tire amp compartment set up. I am looking to run a Diamond Audio 600x1 mono block and want that exact same look. I've had this stuff just sitting in my trunk for months and need to pull the trigger. That lil stock 8inch sub just aint doing it for me at all!

how long did it take you to create the actual compartment set up? What material did you use? share your words of wisdom!!!
