alarm/remote starter installation
i purchased an alarm/remote starter, HONDA-SL2 to bypass the vats and CAN-SL2 to take advantage of the CAN DATABUS. Can someone tell me where the CAN wires go and what things the DATABUS doesn't do and i have to wire up old-school....and where those wires are?
i looked all over for a thread that has this but don't see one?
thanks!

So, you didn't receive the diagram from the seller of the CAN-SL2 or the Honda-SL3??
http://ifar.ca/en/products/all_produ...=21&model=2935
you can download the install diagram as well as note the features you do and do not have -- basically, you'll have the following:
lock
unlock
trunk release
trunk and door pins
defroster
tach (DO NOT USE THIS FOR TACH .. NOT RELIABLE .. GO TO THE INJECTOR)
There is a brown data wire in the driver's kick panel, that's your main INPUT to the Acura, you'll also need to connect GWR, 12 fused volts, and ground to the Can-sl2.
Old school:
ignition
starter
accessory wires
main power supply to the r/s/alarm brain
parking lights
brake wire
all the old school wires are located in the steering column or the ignition wiring harness
You sure you're comfortable doing this?? Very good chance you can fry something if you're a not very experienced or don't know what you're looking for...

search the vehicle wiring diagram for the Acura TL 2004
You'll have all the wires you need (minus the databus wires, which I already told you about)

confused
thanks for the help!
i did get the diagrams with all the devices.
the part that is confusing me is how all the CANbus stuff talks to eachother. do i just splice them all together and connect to the brown data wire?
my alarm/starter has a CAN wire on it as well (so i have 3 CAN capable devices total). if it has that why cant it talk directly to the car without the CAN-SL2?
i have done many installs before, but never with a CAN.
thanks for all your assistance!

the instructions for the SL3 seem pretty straighforward. splice into the igniton wires as the diagram shows and connect to the white connector.
there is an extra black connector on the back of the SL2, is that to daisychain to another CAN device?
the CAN is 2way on the TL i would think, so does that mean the only wire i need connected to the SL2 is the brown one? dont need the analog white connector?
