Acuralink / HFL

First off do you need to have XM to get the Acuralink to work? I was trying to connect thru my phone and I cant get it to connect. Something about having a data plan, and then I read you need XM, this true?

Secondly I am the second owner of this Acura and when trying to do the voice dialing on my HFL it still brings up the previous owners voice and numbers but her phone book isnt on the list of phone books. Any idea how to get rid of hers and just have mine?

Thanks for the help guys, I tried searching and had no luck.

OState, you shouldn't need to have XM for the Hands Free Link to work. In the HFL menu, there is a command to "Delete Phonebook". Just do that and then start fresh with your phone.

I assume you mean the HandsFree Link, i.e., the Bluetooth cell phone pairing? The answer is NO. While I have XM active (had a subscription before buying the TL and transferred it over), the HFL system is entirely separate from the stereo, and 99% separate from the Navi (99% because the Navi can send phone numbers to the HFL, but all 3G TLs have the HFL and not all 3G TLs have the Navi).

If you can remember what you did, please post the steps you took to try to connect through your phone (preferably in a step-by-step numbered list, e.g., "1) Hit HFL button. 2) Didn't work. 3) Called a witch doctor. 4) He said, 'Oo ee, oo ah ah, ting tang, walla walla bing bang.'"). It will be easier for us all to help you if we know exactly what you did. Normally I might say "RTFM" as a reply, but that response is really too simplistic unless and until you've said what you've done to try to get it to work.
