you mean a portable unit? like garmin or tomtom or magellen?
A complete in dash factory acura unit is several thousand dollars!!!
a portable for $200-300 rocks, and 500 does more than you need, and plays MP3s!!

any idea how easy or difficult of an install being that the non navigation Tl's do not have the Temp display on the dash. I considered doing this mod, but I'm not sure of the wiring being that the climate display will be in a different location. If it's truely a "plug and play" option, I may look into as well.

what i recently saw here on azine when a member needed the dvd drive for the nav-(out of warranty) the unit that goes in the trunk- its 5000 dollars! at dealer
You can do yourself way better with one of the upgrade aftermarket stereo units with big nav display that are available and can be fitted to a TL dash
try an internet search

Lots of non nav tl's have gone that way for much less than a grand

i did it

i'm selling a custom wire harness for non navi to navi conversion everything will be plug and play except for a few wires back-up, power, illumination. if you have the parts and no connectors this is what you need. just plug in the connectors and hide the wires. there's no need to tear the car apart to do this. if you have done any research on this you know the harness is way expensive and connectors are hard to come by. this will be cheaper and less of a headache. i will also give you detailed instructions on where all the wires and connectors go. for an easy install. i have done a couple of successful conversions with a harness like this with everything working perfectly.

pm if interested

don't do an aftermarket dash set up its hideous. why tare your car up like that. At the very least just get a tomtom or a garmin. This mod really isn't that hard if you don your research. Now I haven't done this yet and and aside from being an electronics technician this is simple stuff.
