Accuracy of navigation

I just got my car back from the dealership where they had it for 5 days. I'm having issues with my navigation. About 40% of the time, it puts me in the wrong place.

For example, it may put me an eighth mile north of a road that I'm on. One time, it put me in California (although I live in Fort Worth). I've woken up a few times not knowing where I am, however, I've not gone that far.

This is my 2nd 2004 TL with nav. The first one was accurate 90% of the time, and when it was wrong it refreshed quickly, and figured out where I was. This TL is not doing that well.

In the setup screens, it shows me averaging 2 satelites. Sometimes 3 or 4, but mostly 2. I've heard that this is not enough to maintain accuracy. The dealership had no idea, told me it was something about tire size calibration, and sent me on my way. They are ordering the new DVD released to see if that helps. I don't see how it can, but I'm not turning down the free update.

What is your experience with the navigation? Curiosity. Is this common, and what is the fix?

Thank you.

Is the back window tinted? If it is I bet it metallic. The local tinter guaranteed it wouldn't mess it up but I dropped to 2-4 satellites. He took it off and went with a non metallic in the back and now I get about 10 satellites within 30 seconds.

I have no problem with the navi system. Usually the system is tracked by 7 to 9 satelites. When I had the rear window tinted I had ceramic tint put on just to make sure I wouldn't have a probem with reception. I have read where other people haven't have a problem with metallic tint, but I didn't want to take the chance. Love the navigation system.
